Dylan Dreyer was left embarrassed when questioned about the team she supports
Dylan Dreyer appeared embarrassed as a guest on the Today Show confronted her about the NBA team she supports.
On Friday, the 43-year-old meteorologist was hosting the show alongside Al Roker and Hill Martin when they were joined by NBA legend Walt Clyde Frazier, who was promoting his new biography – Winning and Grinning: Walt Clyde Frazier Knicks Legend and New York City icon. But at some point, the former New York Knicks player questioned Dylan over supporting the Boston Celtics.
He said, “I heard you’re a Celtic fan.” The anchor, who lived in Boston from 2007 to 2012 while working at the NBC station WHDH, initially appeared to stumble on her words before she said, “When you live in Boston for a long time you commit to living in Boston, otherwise you’re sort of exiled right away, so yeah.”
Walt replied, “I won’t hold it against you. These are the two that they didn’t get Dylan,” while lifting both his fists up as the studio burst into laughter. Appearing embarrassed, Dylan just said, “Oh, okay,” before Al shared his reaction to the joke, saying, “Wow, you went a long way with it, but I like it. To a point, that was fantastic.”

While living in Boston, Dylan married her husband Brian Fichera and despite originally planning to stay in the city, they then moved to Manhattan, New York, when she was offered a role on the Today Show. She previously explained, “I never had a goal to be at the Today Show. I thought I was going to set up shop in Boston.
“I met my husband up there and we were just going to buy a house and live in Boston. Then this opportunity came along. But I always said ‘yes’ to the opportunities.” The couple then welcomed three sons – eight-year-old Calvin, five-year-old Oliver and three-year-old Rusty.
Dylan’s career is full steam ahead as she debuted her latest book A Peek Out Your Window earlier this year. Speaking to HELLO!, Dylan opened up about how her children had been a huge inspiration behind her fourth novel.
She said, “My kids have loved the lift-the-flap books since they were babies. And it’s fun for adults to read too. It’s got a little rhyme to it and it’s a nice short book, which I think goes a long way for parents too!”
She recently traveled to France on a special assignment, reporting on the latest MSC Cruises ship, MSC World America, from Saint Nazaire, where it was built, before heading to Augusta, Georgia, for her next featured segment. Her co-host Al confirmed that Dylan still has plenty of work ahead of her while reporting on the cruise, an assignment sponsored by MSC.
He said, “When Dylan gets back she has to unpack and then repack for the next one. Dylan actually traveled to France last month…where they were putting the finishing touches on the ship.” He then joked about how Dylan’s travel for work has led to her family life becoming strained adding, “In fact, Dylan’s kids are calling her aunt mommy.” Both Craig and Kaylee Hartung burst into laughter at the gag before he added, “We’re all going on it together.”
