Jenna Bush Hager doesn’t support the “mom friends” label for a very specific reason, which she opened up about on Friday’s episode of Today with Jenny & Friends.
The 43-year-old talk show host talked about it when she and her guest co-host, retired NBA star Dwayne Wade, 43, began discussing their friends who have children.
“Some of my best ‘mom friends’ — which I sort of hate that term because it implies they’re not my true friends — but some of my best mom friends are from the time I had my 12-year-old,” Jenna stated, referencing her daughter Mila.
Jenna is also the mother of 9-year-old Poppy, 5-year-old Hal, and Mila, all of whom she shares with hubby Henry Chase Hager.

The TV star revealed that when she welcomed child number one, she was in a “baby group” with some mom friends, including someone who views as “one” of her “best friends in the world.”
Jenna shared: “Now we have pre-teens, and so to go through every stage of life together? I think it is necessary to have that community.”
Dwayne shared the same perspective as Jenna on the matter, which he expressed during the episode.
“Especially for your kids. Once they get their friends, these playdates [are] big in the world now, obviously, right? So you have to have a relationship with their parents,” he said.
“One, for them to allow their kids to come over or vice versa, but also two, if their parents are going to come over, [you got to get along],” Dwayne added.
Dwayne is one of the many celebs who have guest-co-hosted the NBC morning show with Jenna since Hoda Kotb’s departure.
After Hoda left the Today show in 2024, there has been a search for Hoda’s permanent replacement.
However, Jenna revealed to People last month that there isn’t any rush to find Hoda’s successor.
“We’re still searching. We definitely want somebody permanent at some point just because that’s our show, and I think the Today show is such a family,” she confessed to the news outlet.
“So to have somebody sit in that seat means a lot to all of us. So it will happen. I think we’ve all just been kind of living day by day, and we don’t have any developments yet, but we will,” Jenna noted.
