TODAY show host Craig Melvin had a heartwarming reason to celebrate over the weekend as his daughter Sybil, who just turned 8, marked an important spiritual milestone — her First Holy Communion. The special occasion was made even more memorable with close family by her side, including Craig’s wife, Lindsay Czarniak, an Emmy-winning broadcaster. Lindsay took to Instagram on May 4 to share touching photos from the big day, showcasing the family’s joy and pride.
“It has been a whirlwind of a weekend but we are so grateful,” she captioned the post. “This was such a special day. Our girl is such a cheerleader for others (especially her big brother), and it was magical celebrating her today and watching her make her First Communion.” The post received a flood of warm wishes and congratulations from fans and fellow broadcasters, all touched by the sweet family moment. It was clearly a day filled with love, faith, and cherished memories for the Melvin family.
In the photo carousel, Czarniak included images of Sybil with her pink flower crown, Sybil all dressed up with her 11-year-old brother Del in a suit, the moment Sybil received the host from the priest, the family at the church, the kids with Czarniak’s parents and the gang in more casual clothing at home … with a gorgeous pink cake shaped like a cross.
In the caption, Czarniak thanked “our friend Jerri for capturing these memories.”

Sybil’s white Communion dress had a tank-style top without sleeves. The bottom had a long, multi-later tulle skirt with a bow at her waist. Instead of tights or ankle socks, she wore simple white sandals. Rather than a veil, she opted for a pink and white floral crown with delicate greenery. It sat atop her wavy hair, which she wore loose.
Czarniak, who posted photos at the Kentucky Derby the day before the Communion, certainly had a busy weekend! Though she and Craig are constantly on the go, they always make time to share the moments that matter.

Craig’s son Del celebrated his First Communion in 2022. Based on Craig’s Instagram post at the time, it looked to be a similarly warm and celebratory family occasion.
Congrats to the whole Melvin family on this very special occasion!
