James Cartwright teases an exit for Theo
Theo Silverton actor James Cartwright has confirmed his Coronation Street exit “has to happen”.
But as the soap enters murd3r week, with Theo a potential victim, he’s teased his departure might not happen just yet. Not only that, but he hinted his exit storyline might not see him get k!lled off, with perhaps another character meeting a grim demise instead.
Speaking exclusively to The Mirror, James revealed there are different options in terms of how Theo will leave the show, as he stated he has no option but to leave after his terrible behaviour. From k!lling vicar Billy Mayhew to his horrific abuse towards partner Todd Grimshaw, Theo is finally set to face some sort of a comeuppance.
Despite being one of the five possible d3ath victims, with someone set to d!e this week, James teased it might not be his character that is murd3red. He explained: “He’s running out of road. He’s like a cornered dog.

“He’s either gonna get put in the dog pound or he’ll savage someone. Or he’s gonna have to make a run for it. There’s no other option at this point, he’s cornered. Serves him right, he’s been bloody horrible.

“When residents of Weatherfield decide you’ve gotta go, you’ve gotta go. Something needs to happen to him. He can’t go on like that, we need justice.
“Whether thats Corrie’s own brand of justice or the courts, something has got to be done about it. He’s got to go. Something needs to happen to that man, whether it’s this week or six months, 12 months, something along the lines has to happen to Theo.”
James went on to say it could be Theo who d!es, as it could be anyone at this point. he told us: “He’s so unpleasant. He’s a narcissist, he just can’t see it. He’s an absolute nutter, it’s a real thrill to be in the mix.

“It could be anyone, that’s what is interesting. It’s really clever. You have Theo and Carl Webster going head-to-head, it could be anybody. Carl has upset everyone, Theo’s upset everyone, that’s what is amazing.”
Addressing how he would feel about leaving the show, whether that be as the shock d3ath or in a future downfall for Theo, James said: “It’s been juicy and there’s been so much to play.
“It’s been one of the great joys and privileges of my life, but sooner or later Theo can’t keep going. Sooner or later he needs to meet some sort of justice, whether it’s at the hands of residents or a hand on the shoulder from Kit or Swain, or something grisly.
“Something needs to happen sooner or later. There is the knowledge that sooner or later he will meet his end.” Speaking to all press on the panel, James addressed who might k!ll Theo if he was to be the murd3r victim.
He told The Mirror and others: “Let’s stick a pin on a map. You’ve got George… George could do it because George could put him in a coffin and bury him and you’d never know. You’ve got Todd, you’ve got Summer, you’ve got Carl obviously.”
