Prince Harry’s ‘fears’ over brother William as he’s ‘desperate to return to the UK’

Prince Harry’s recent solo trip to Angola has reignited speculation about a possible UK return, as the duke appears eager to reconnect with his roots.

According to royal biographer Tom Bower, the Duke of Sussex‘s visit was less about landmine awareness and more about a deeper motivation: a growing desperation to reconnect with the UK and secure his future role within the monarchy.

Speaking on GB News, Tom didn’t hold back.

He branded the Angola visit a “publicity stunt,” arguing that Harry is grappling with fears about being completely sidelined by the royal family in the years ahead, especially once his older brother, Prince William, ascends the throne.

“It’s a stunt. Harry is desperate,” Tom said bluntly. “He’s desperate to come back to England and distance himself with the bitter feud of his wife.”

According to Tom, Harry is torn between his California-based life with Meghan Markle and his longstanding desire to maintain a connection to the monarchy.

Although his children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, keep him rooted in the US, Bower argues that Harry’s sense of identity remains unresolved, particularly after the backlash surrounding his Netflix deals, podcast ventures, and tell-all memoir Spare.

“What he really fears,” Tom continued. “Is that when the king, God forbid, dies, his brother is going to banish himself from Britain. So in some ways, he is trying to ingratiate himself.”

Harry’s Angola trip saw him don protective gear and walk through cleared minefields in Cuito Cuanavale, echoing the famous 1997 landmine walk by his late mother, Princess Diana.

He met with families, taught local children safety phrases in Portuguese, and participated in a controlled detonation exercise.

He also met with Angolan President João Lourenço to discuss ongoing landmine clearance efforts.

The visit highlighted his continued work with The Halo Trust and his long-standing passion for humanitarian work.

He’s desperate to come back to England and distance himself with the bitter feud of his wife.

However, Tom also took aim at Harry’s advisers in the US. He accused them of misreading the British public.

“He’s advised by Californians who don’t understand Britain,” Tom said. “They think it’s clever to let him recreate something Diana did. But it’s all falling flat.”

The trip comes as rumours swirl about a potential reconciliation between Harry and his father, King Charles.

Aides are reportedly working behind the scenes to avoid further public friction. There is even speculation that the two may meet in September, when Harry is expected to return to the UK for a WellChild charity event.

Although Harry hasn’t reportedly seen the king in over a year and a half, recent reports suggest that Charles is open to rebuilding family ties.
