Eamonn Holmes is reportedly rubbing his GB News colleagues up the wrong way with his repeated “foul moods” and constant “clashes” with those who work for the programme. Last week, Eamonn revealed that his tax row with HMRC has cost him more than £1 million and two houses, and he is being made to pay a further £250,000 for an outstanding tax bill.

HMRC has demanded the back pay from when Eamonn, 65, claimed to be a freelancer, arguing that he was not during his time presenting Sky’s Sunrise morning show. The mounting pressure is believed to be getting to the former This Morning presenter, who is in a “difficult place” and regularly snapping, despite moving on from his divorce with therapist girlfriend Katie Alexander, 43. The Northern Irish broadcaster accused HMRC of being “thieves” and claimed they have “ruined” him during one of the most vulnerable periods of his life.

Eamonn fumed: “They still want another quarter of a million pounds off me… I’ve paid them more than a million already, but they won’t stop. It’s still going on and they want another £250,000. They’ve ruined me.

“They came after me and said, ‘We always said that you were self-employed? Well, we’ve thought about it, you’re not, so we want ten years of back taxes and national insurance.” So they basically, at the most vulnerable time of my life, wrecked me financially.”

“I’ve had to sell my house in Belfast. I had a place in Portugal and had to sell it. I still owe them a quarter of a million quid even now. I went back and appealed it twice and lost it twice. And lawyers fees are absolutely horrendous.”

The GB News presenter added: “So that was something, on top of my health matters, I had this tax situation which is still not over yet. It is thievery.”

One source has now claimed Eamonn’s behaviour is impacting those behind the scenes on GB News, saying: “It feels like everything is coming to a head. What happens on screen and what happens off-screen are very different.

“When the cameras roll, Eamonn still switches it on, but away from that it’s very messy. He’s in a foul mood, and everyone behind the scenes feels it.

“He is clashing with people all the time – and now that it’s become clear he is still in a huge amount of trouble with the tax man, it all becomes clear.”

They added to the Daily Mail: “People’s patience is wearing a bit thin.”

Some of his friends are reportedly urging him to “be a star” in Ireland and to leave the UK behind for good.

“He will have a much nicer life,” one of his friends said. “But it seems like he’s clinging on to the fame in England. It’s all very sad.”

Eamonn has faced mounting money woes since his split from Ruth Langsford, as the couple wrestle to untangle their complex network of business interests and assets.

While Eamonn faces ongoing issues with the tax authorities, Ruth’s business reportedly holds more than £1 million in cash, according to her latest accountancy figures.

Back in May, it was reported Ruth, 65, was pursuing legal action to ensure she retains her share of the £3.6million marital home she shared with her estranged husband.

Ruth has reportedly been granted a severance of joint tenancy on the property – meaning if she dies, her share of the house would not go to Eamonn.

Express Online has contacted Eamonn Holmes’ representatives and GB News for comment.
