Janet Street-Porter sh0cked her fellow Loose Women when she revealed that her hair was falling out live on Monday’s show.
The presenter, 77, explained to her panelists, Jane Moore, Brenda Edwards and Linda Robson, that following a grueling hip replacement surgery, her hair started to shed as part of her recovery.
She revealed that after her hairdresser confirmed her initial worries that her hair was falling out, she visited her doctor, who confirmed that hair can fall out following a major surgery.
But in true Janet fashion, she immediately got to work and started implementing steps to stop it from falling out.
She told her fellow panelists that she has her hair professionally washed once a week by a hairdresser, takes collagen tablets and maintains a healthy diet.
Janet told the show: ‘Since I had the hip replacement at the beginning of October, I noticed quite a lot of my hair was falling out when I was brushing my hair.’

‘My hairdresser said, yeah, your hair is thinning,’ she added.
‘But it is the result of the operation. So I asked my doctor and he said, ‘yeah after major surgery’.
The surprising side effect of her recent procedure no doubt came as a surprise to viewers, as they saw the panelist looking right as rain in November after taking a break from the show for a month.
Announcing her explosive return to Loose Women, she dramatically threw her walking stick across the room as she was welcomed back by her co-hosts.
The audience broke out into roaring cheers and chanted her name as Janet walked into the studio and took her seat.
Speaking about her surgery, she began: ‘I can stand up sit down and doing my exercises religiously, bottoms clenches which caused a bit of constipation.
‘I looked haggard, I was hunched up and it didn’t help that I fell down the stairs two hours before going into hospital.’
Janet continued: ‘I came round after hospital and was doolally on drugs and the surgeon was there said it was fine, two hours after that it was pain.
‘I went to the loo and I was like I can’t get there, you lose all dignity and have to keep moving.
‘I did loads of rehabilitation for a week, I did half an hour in a hydrotherapy pool walking. I struggled to sleep because of lying on your back. I had brain fog I read the paper and forgot what I read, that I really didn’t like.
‘I did intense therapy in the afternoon after the pool in the morning. When I do go up and down stairs its not even 5 weeks, I have a stick in case I’m in the top 5% but I don’t want to trip.

‘The one thing I have discovered is a raised toilet seat it is life-changing experience.
‘I was in a lot of pain and hunched before. With pain you work through it and by the time I had the surgery it was bad.
‘The surgeon said my spine was out by 2 inches and I was lopsided and I’m now standing straighter.’
