URGENT NEWS: Sky News halts for ‘dangerous’ breaking news as reporter forced to flee

Sky News was interrupted for a breaking update on the ongoing wildfires in parts of France, with correspondent Sadiya Chowdhury at the centre of the unfolding situation. The raging wildfires across both Spain and France have forced 270,000 people to flee, with Bordeaux in France now sending an evacuation warning as the flames approach the metropolitan area of the city.
Reporting live from Bordeaux, Sadiya appeared on a road with a huge cloud of black smoke visible behind here. She explained how they travelled exactly to where the fire was and could see the flames, but were forced to flee the area for safety. “It’s a very dangerous situation. We’ve had to withdraw,” she said. “There’s black smoke coming out. We went right to the front line where the fire is and could see the flames.”

Explaining more about this wildfire in particular, she continued: “You expect these to be very high flames. It’s actually not. It’s in the ground. It’s the shrubbery around here. There is so much of it. It’s so dense and that is what is burning and spreading.
“What is contributing to that spread is the 40 mile per hour winds. Overnight, it was so strong that this fire got much worse than authorities expected.”
“It’s an enormous operation,” she added. The camera panned around to show a number of vehicles gathered near the flames, with Sadiya revealing it’s a mini coordination centre made up of the fire service, the military, the police and local farmers who are working together to combat the “unpredictable” fire.
The correspondent went on: “It is moving in various directions. Even when we went inside, we were stood one one corner and were told the fire could go either left or right.
“It’s a very dangerous situation. We’ve had to come forward.”
Sadiya revealed that trains across areas of France have been cancelled, while an additional 55,000 people have been evacuated.
She added: “There is a real threat that the entire city of Bordeaux may need to be evacuated. We’re talking about around 1.3 million people in that Metropolitan area facing a threat of possibly having to evacuate and some people reevacuate.”
