Strictly Come Dancing is finally just days away from its highly anticipated return, with a brand new line-up of celebrities ready to take to the dancefloor for a chance to lift the coveted Glitterball trophy. With series 24 premiering this weekend, the BBC will reportedly release the contest’s all-new sister show. Titled Strictly Pro Dance Off, the spin-off series will coincide with the glitzy competition and air each Saturday.

According to reports, it is expected to feature the new professionals, including Aleksandra Isaeva, Cristian Priori, Lethabo Monametsi, Maddie Ingoldsby and Mark Karmalita, and will be led by the beloved choreographer Dianne Buswell. A TV insider claimed: “This will delight the Strictly fandom and it’s obviously part of the renewed drive to bring in a younger market to the show, which, along with hiring more influencers to compete, is seen as future-proofing the contest.

The source told The Sun: “But there will also, inevitably, be comparisons drawn between this show and the Dancing With The Stars’ spin-off The Next Pro, which has just launched in the US.

“Though they’re different formats, they both focus on the pros rather than the celebrity contestants of the main shows. They also both recognise how the pros on the shows capture the imagination of viewers as much as the stars who take part.”

The new show will see a pro teaching two others a dance routine, and then they will compete to see who performs it best. During which, the teacher pro will choose the winner who will then proceed to the following week’s contest.

Each duel will reportedly last seven minutes; an intentional move from TV bosses to provide bite-sized entertainment for a generation submerged in social media.

While the Strictly Pro Dance Off will air soon, an exact date and start time have yet to be announced. The Strictly launch show will return to the BBC this Saturday (September 19), with the new trio of hosts Emma Willis, Johannes Radebe and Josh Widdecombe making their debuts.

The episode will finally reveal which celebrities are teamed with which pros, including Dianne, Vito Coppola, Amy Dowden, Carlos Gu, Alexis Warr, Katya Jones, Julian Caillon, Neil Jones, Nikita Kuzmin, Jowita Przystał and Aljaž Škorjanec.

The likes of Alexis Warr, Kai Widdrington, Nancy Xu, and Lauren Oakley will also make their comeback, alongside the five new professionals.
