Jasmine Harman breaks down in tears as discusses Jonnie Irwin's tragic death live on air - The Mirror

A Place in the Sun star Jasmine Harman has revealed her heartbreak after a close friend’s husband lost his battle with cancer, telling fans the tragedy made her realise how precious every day is. The Channel 4 presenter, 49, posted a reflective video from the beach, where she urged people to cherish time with loved ones and not sweat life’s small problems.

Jasmine captioned the clip: “Tragically, another beautiful soul has departed this earth. A reminder to live for each and every day.” She told her followers: “Just been for a lovely swim in the sea after my class, and I’m feeling very reflective today and very grateful because life throws things at you. Sometimes we all think Oh, you know, we all get stressed, but actually, really, what we should be thinking is how lucky we are to have the problems that we have, because most of them are small problems.

“I had some sad news yesterday, a friend of mine’s husband passed away, having been battling cancer for a few years. Young dad.

“There aren’t really words to comfort someone in that situation or to say how awful that must be, but it really made me put things into perspective and think to myself that we have to be grateful for every day, for every moment.

“We have to cherish the time that we have with the people that we love and do the things that we enjoy. So just for you, if you needed to hear that today. Lots of love.”

Messages of support poured in beneath the post. One fan wrote: “Much love and although it doesn’t feel right, we get these reminders along the way of just how precious this life is.”

Another said: “I’m so sorry to hear your very sad news Jasmine my thoughts and prayers are with you and your friend sending you lots of love and hugs.”

A third added: “Everyone knows somebody with cancer, so enjoy if you can, life is sometimes so unfair.”

The TV favourite has endured a turbulent few weeks after A Place in the Sun was dragged into controversy over a dark parody video.

The clip, shared on YouTube by fan creator Rafi Shor, depicted co-host Lee Juggurnauth being murdered by Jasmine in a twisted re-imagining of the show.

The bizarre eight-minute short began with a digitally generated image of Lee face-down in water before spiralling into a Sunset Boulevard-style storyline.

In the video description, Rafi wrote: “What’s real in reality TV? And when you run it through an AI blender, what if anything survives? I took A Place in the Sun and re-cut it as a twisted homage to Sunset Boulevard: Jasmine Harman is the fading diva, Lee Juggurnauth the charming usurper. The coast is clear: for her, and her alone.”

Speaking to the Daily Mail, Rafi insisted there was no ill intent behind the fictional project.
