Camilla might be giving King Charles some sage advice when it comes to his ongoing rift with Prince Harry. The Queen Consort has reportedly had a hand in telling her husband what to do in spite of some protests from Prince William.
The report comes after former Royal photographer Ian Pelham Turner told The Express that King Charles has the “final decision” on whether he will meet with Prince Harry at the Invictus Games in September 2025. “In my opinion, the feeling I get, is that William is trying to take over the monarchy and in reality, Charles is saying, ‘I’m the King. The former photographer also speculated that William thinks “that he’s the driving force behind the throne,” but points out that “I think, Charles should be.”
Things are getting lax between Charles and Harry ever since they are closer to reconciling than they have been before. Their senior aides recently held a secret meeting, which was believed to be the first big step towards resolving the feud between them. “There’s a long road ahead, but a channel of communication is now open for the first time in years,” The Mail on Sunday reported. Harry had even opened up his schedule to the royal family, making it an olive branch ever since the rift.
Reports from Us Weekly indicate that Camilla wants Charles to “hold onto the reins for as long as possible,” as King since she “loves her responsibilities,” has wanted to be Queen “her whole life,” and “doesn’t want to let it go so fast.”
When King Charles dies, Camilla will lose her title as Queen Consort and her royal title will become Queen Dowager, which is the royal family term for the King’s widow. When William ascends to the throne, it’s unclear about what Camilla’s roles will be. Royal author Christopher Anderson notes that he “tolerates” his stepmom, who has always been “a little afraid” of him, but in the end, they’d “always had a tense relationship.”

It might make sense for her to be a little scared as Harry feels the same way. Royal biographer Tom Bower told The Mirror “Harry is seriously worried that when his father dies one day, William will literally banish him and he will have no status in Britain at all. He will be persona non grata.”
