TV icon Lorraine Kelly is said to be “insulted” and “furious” over ITV’s proposal to merge her long-running show with Good Morning Britain amid sweeping network cuts.
The 64-year-old presenter, a daytime staple for millions of Brits, reportedly rejected the idea outright after ITV bosses allegedly suggested Lorraine be folded into the final half hour of GMB — a format trialled during the Covid lockdowns. Sources say the plan was pitched as an “easy fix” to cut costs.
But Lorraine wasn’t having it.
“She told them no and said it wasn’t even a possibility,” one insider revealed. “The entire thing has been an insult. She’s certain to leave once her contract ends.”
Instead, ITV will reduce Lorraine’s show to just 30 minutes, and it will only air for 30 weeks a year — a major downgrade after 14 years at the helm of her own programme.
Though reports claim she was ready to walk away, Lorraine has agreed to continue hosting until the end of 2026. Her team has not commented publicly, but fans are already voicing frustration online, calling the decision “disrespectful” and “a slap in the face to loyal viewers.”
PR expert Fiona Harrold believes Lorraine may soon pivot to documentaries or a return to serious journalism — reminding audiences that she once covered the Lockerbie disaster as a field reporter.
One thing’s for sure: Lorraine Kelly isn’t fading quietly. And fans will be watching her next move very closely.
