Coronation Street’s Daniel Osbourne star Rob Mallard has confirmed his character will be “falling head over heels again”.

It’s been a tough time for Daniel on the cobbles after his two love interests, Daisy Midgeley and Bethany Platt, both left within weeks of each other, leaving the Weatherfield teacher heartbroken.

However, hopeless romantic Daniel is set to be “falling for another woman” in upcoming episodes as he moves on with his life.

Talking to Digital Spy at The British Soap Awards 2025, actor Rob, 33, who plays Daniel, said: “I’m not allowed to say anything too specific, but sure enough, he’ll be falling for another woman. He’ll be falling head over heels again. When that happens, I’m not too sure.

“And he’s gone back to work at the school. We’ve got all the kids in the show, and with the age that they’re at with the storylines, I should be involved with the younger cast a bit more.”

Talking about whether Daniel ever learns from his past romantic relationships, Daniel joked: “No, he can’t! He’s Ken’s son, isn’t he? Everything’s got to be a mess all the time. So I’m expecting just more chaotic relationships, just over and over and over again.”

It comes as soap watchers are convinced they’ve rumbled who could be Daniel’s new love interest. Viewers think Dee-Dee Bailey could be Daniel’s new romantic partner on the cobbles.

Soap watchers will recall that Dee-Dee was left heartbroken to discover that her fiancé, Joel Deering, had been abusing and grooming young girls, which included Lauren Bolton.

Joel had even got Lauren pregnant and attempted to kill her in a harrowing storyline. Last year, Joel was killed off after he was finally exposed.

Taking to social media, one person said: “Rob said he has romance coming up on the soap, I’m calling it now it will be with Dee-Dee.” A different account wrote: “Yeah they are so going put Daniel and dee-dee together.”

Meanwhile, other soap watchers want Daniel to stay single for a while after jumping from relationship to relationship on the cobbles.

One person said: “I like him as a character but it’s hard to take his “romances” seriously now as he falls in and out of love so often and so quickly” while another added: “Can he not be single for just a minute!!! Seriously!!”
