Andrea Mitchell’s FINAL Broadcast On MSNBC Features An EMOTIONAL FAREWELL, As She THANKS VIEWERS And Colleagues For 17 Memorable Years On The Air.

MSNBC host Andrea Mitchell shared a heartfelt goodbye to her viewers as she took the anchor’s chair for the final time after 17 years leading her own daily show

Long-time MSNBC host Andrea Mitchell delivered an emotional speech as she made her final television apperance on her show after 17 years on the air.

On Friday, Feb. 7, the 78-year-old journalist made her last-ever broadcast on her show ‘Andrea Mitchell Reports.’ After almost two decades leading the daily program, Andrea will be stepping down from the position to focus on other journalistic endeavors within the network. While the broadcaster will no longer be leading the popular show, she will continue to work for NBC News as a chief foreign affairs correspondent and Washington correspondent.

During her final appearance on the show producers put together an emotional montage of some of Andrea’s most noteworthy interviews over the years including chats with former President Joe Biden, Hillary Clinton, Bill Clinton, Sarah Palin, among many others. At the end of the segment co-stars, producers, writers, guests, and more over the past decade appeared to surprise her live in the studio.

Andrea was clearly stunned and holding back tears, kept it short and sweet as she closed out the episode by saying: “Thank you for this incredible surprise and to all of you from NBC to MSNBC here. That does it for the final edition of Andrea Mitchell Reports. You can find me online at Mitchell Reports and tonight on Nightly News and Sunday on Meet the Press.”

Andrea’s departure from the show comes as she previously announced she would be exiting the daily program in October 2024 after the presidential inauguration. In her initial announcement, the political commentator explained that instead of sitting in the anchor’s chair she wanted a more hands-on experience out in the field. She explained that she missed reporting and connecting with others face-to-face and that she is especially eager to do this in the midst of “two foreign wars and the political divisions here at home.”

And as Andrea took the anchor’s chair for the final time, viewers at home took to Reddit sharing their thoughts on her final apperance. In a newly posted thread, one person wrote: “I like that her guests are getting the chance to give one last on-air respect; at least for the good parts of her long career.”

Another added: “Best wishes on your future endeavors, Andrea. Now get someone consequential in that time slot. Ali Velshi?” While a third added: “In her time, she was an excellent journalist mostly foreign affairs. Unfortunately, as part of her aging process, communication has become difficult for her. I’m sure her contract is finally up. Good for her, and us.”
