Emmerdale has finally featured the return of Piper the dog – and fans are all saying the same thing.

In last night’s episode (May 27) Clemmie arrived at the Dingles house, begging Sam to let her move in. But instead, he went and found Joe Tate to talk to her.

When the pair sat to have a heart-to-heart, fans spotted Piper the dog in Clemmie’s arms. And everyone was thrilled.

Who is Piper the dog in Emmerdale?

Piper has had a turbulent time in the village – just like many of the actual people. She was initially brought in during Belle’s horrific abuse storyline. But since then, she hasn’t been seen.

Months ago, while Tom was tormenting Belle, he deliberately ran over Piper the dog with his car. He went on to tell Belle that despite surgery, Piper hadn’t survived.

Belle was naturally heartbroken as she was forced to say goodbye to the pup she loved so dearly. The episode gathered 1000 Ofcom complaints. But in reality, it was all a part of Tom’s manipulation.

As Belle cried over Piper’s casket, it was revealed that Tom had faked Piper the dog’s death, and was handing her over to a different couple.

Months later, when Belle was processing the aftermath of Tom, she realised she had never seen Piper’s body. And suddenly she had the thought that she could be alive. So, along with Vinny, they dug up the grave to find no dog.

Vinny and Gabby then decide to track Piper down for Belle. And on Christmas Day, the pair were together again in an emotional reunion. But that was also the last we had seen of Piper – until last night.

Fans thrilled at Piper’s long-awaited return

Following five months off our screens, Emmerdale fans were delighted to finally see a glimpse of Piper. Only a few days ago some took to X to ask “Where is Piper?”

Taking to social media last night, fans expressed their joy. One wrote: “Piper the dog is back!!”

Another penned: “Well I’ll be !!! Piper is back – Not seen her since Christmas Day!”

“The real star of Emmerdale is right here folks. Arise for the legend that is Piper!” a third enthusiastically commented.

A fourth fan had a warning for Emmerdale as her return comes in the middle of a huge storyline: “They better not let John anywhere near Piper. She went through enough with Tom.”
