Paddy McGuinness was left up in arms after he was refused entry to his own BBC radio show. The Lancashire comic hosts his own BBC Radio 2 program every Sunday from 11am to 1pm.

But this weekend, the broadcaster was thrown through a loop when the security guards of the BBC building failed to recognise him and refused to let him in. As he opened his morning show, he revealed how those on the door of the Salford radio studios denied him access to the building without showing his building pass and identification. Paddy later ranted about his treatment live on the air as he slammed the security for not recognising him.

Shortly after starting the show, Paddy complained: “How long have we been doing this show? It’s over a year actually. I’m just wondering when security are gonna know its me.

“I’m not even bothered about them recognising me off the telly, or anything I’ve done throughout my career. Just the fact that I come in every Sunday for a year and a bloke still wouldn’t let me in this morning.

“[He said:] ‘Have you got your pass?’ Pass? I said, ‘See that yellow chopper there, son, with 10million quid stuck on top of it? I did that’. Ohhhh, come on security, play the game!”

The dad-of-three began his hosting duties for his mid-morning show last year. He hosts the program live from MediaCityUK where he commutes from his shared Cheshire home with his ex-wife Christine.

It comes after Paddy openly expressed his affection for his former Top Gear host Freddie Flintoff, despite admitting that seeing him might be “triggering” after his harrowing car crash.

The 51-year-old TV host revealed he keeps in touch with his ex-colleague and is eager to watch Freddie’s documentary, Flintoff, which delves into the ex-cricketer’s life-threatening accident that took place in December 2022.

In the Disney+ special, Freddie confessed his regret over not meeting Paddy for two years and his concern that his accident, which led to Top Gear being taken of the air, might have negatively impacted Paddy’s career.

The dio had formed a close bond while co-hosting the popular series alongside ex-racing driver Chris Harris. Paddy has since shared his fondness for his freind Freddie, gushing: “I love Fred. He’s a good lad.

“The mad thing about me getting on with him so well is that I know absolutely zero about cricket. I’ve never watched it, never been into it, and never played it. I knew of Freddie and Ian Botham and Michael Vaughan… the famous names.

“Me, Fred and Chris [Harris] everyday we worked together we just laughed. It was such a lovely experience. It was one of those jobs for me, as someone who wasn’t well travelled to visit the placed we did in Top Gear and go off the beaten track.”
