Gavin and Stacey’s Alison Steadman has ‘terrible’ accident in Dubai as she’s flown back to UK for treatment
She’s got a hairline fracture and a suspected broken hand
Gavin and Stacey actor Alison Steadman has been pictured in a wheelchair following an accident in Dubai.
The 78-year-old actress, who famously played Pam in the popular series, fell at the Desert Stanzas event due to an uneven pavement and harmed herself.
She was in the UAE to take part in the Emirates Airline Festival of Literature to promote her book, Out of Character.

Alison Steadman suffers ‘terrible’ accident
In photos obtained by the Mirror, Alison was photographed at the airport arriving back in the UK in a wheelchair. She’ll have follow-up treatment at her local hospital.
In the pictures, Alison’s wrists were covered in bandages and her foot was in a cast.
It’s been terrible.
As she recalled the accident, Alison said “the path was uneven and I went flying”.
She continued: “At the hospital, I had tablets for the pain. It’s been terrible. I don’t think I’ve broken my leg but I twisted it badly so there could be a hairline fracture.”
Despite the nasty incident, Alison made sure her other plans were not affected. The TV star still headed out for an evening river cruise with her fellow acting husband, Michael Elwyn, while in her wheelchair.

‘I am going through a bit of a sad time’
While balancing a busy career, Alison revealed she has been “going through a bit of a sad time” recently due to her 90-year-old sister Sylvia’s dementia.
“She is bed-bound and has no one to help her except me. I am up and down to Liverpool trying to take care of her,” she told the Mirror.
“Maybe that’s the reason I was sent. The baby sister always has to take over at some point.”
