Kim Porter and Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs had an on-off relationship for more than 10 years, with the music mogul admitting he made a huge mistake following her d.e.a.th

Sean “Diddy” Combs has never been married — but that doesn’t mean he didn’t want to.

The 55-year-old rapper had an on-off relationship with model Kim Porter throughout the 90s. The pair welcomed three children together, but ultimately called time on their romance in 2007.

Kim and Diddy’s relationship was full of scandal, with the Bad Boy Records founder admitting to cheating on his girlfriend. He even got another woman pregnant while still dating Kim. However, Diddy reflected fondly on their relationship following Kim’s d.e.a.th in 2018.

The musician took to Instagram following the tragedy to share a now-deleted photo of himself with Kim. Alongside the snap, he expressed his deep sorrow at losing her.

In the comments section, however, fans expressed their confusion as they pointed out Diddy decided not to marry Kim. He admitted it was one of his biggest regrets, writing, “I know. Played myself smh.”

Diddy has been open about his relationship with Kim and previously explained why they never tied the knot. During an interview with Essence from 2007, he admitted Kim was “marriage material” but said he wasn’t good enough for her.

Despite this, Combs had hoped to change and one day marry Kim. “I know she deserves to get married, but I’m just not ready.” he said.

Diddy continued, “It’s not a reflection on how much I love Kim. It’s that I’m just learning how to be a good boyfriend. When I’m finished with this step, I’ll move on to the next.”

During the same interview, Kim spoke about how she felt when she found out her boyfriend had cheated on her. Kim was pregnant with her and Diddy’s twin daughters, D’Lila Star and Jessie James, when the New York native had a brief fling with Sarah Chapman.

Sarah and Diddy welcomed their daughter Chance Chapman in 2006. Kim found out about the affair from a mutual friend.

Speaking to Essence, she explained, “I wasn’t even coming from the place of who, what, why. I laid low and did what women do: I did my background work, collected information [about the other woman]. But I wasn’t even on it like that because I was pregnant, and what was bubbling inside me was a blessing from God.”

Kim said she “didn’t have time for any drama,” but admitted she would have preferred to have discovered about the affair from Diddy himself. She added, “I know it’s hard for anyone to say to their significant other, ‘I’ve gotten into some s— and I got a baby on the way.’ But men do get caught up in things.”
