Emmerdale spoilers: Dr Todd and Jacob twist leaves viewers seething
Emmerdale fans are not happy after spoilers for scenes airing tonight revealed Dr Todd and Jacob’s storyline would escalate, with Vanessa and Sarah now involved
Dr Todd and Jacob’s cruel Emmerdale scenes have left fans uncomfortable, and the latest episode has left them raging.
Spoilers revealed that Todd would once again set up Jacob, and this time Vanessa Woodfield would be dragged into things. Not only that but it would be breaking point for Jacob, as he finally confesses to his wife Sarah Sugden what he’s endured for weeks.
Wednesday’s episode is now on ITVX ahead of it airing at 8PM on ITV1 on Wednesday evening. While we won’t detail what happens in the episode fully, recent spoilers did confirm a synopsis of what would air.
In the episode, Jacob is one again mocked by Todd, who then maliciously lies about him to Sarah. Implying Jacob is desperate to get back to work, wanting a break from their newborn baby Leyla, Todd leaves Sarah rattled.
As Sarah confronts Jacob over what he’s apparently been saying, he’s left furious at Todd’s meddling. Things take a turn when he shouts at her in the corridor of The Woolpack, warning her against lying to his wife.
As Todd walks off he follows her into the ladies toilets, no doubt a planned move to paint Jacob badly once more. This works too as the trap sees Jacob is spotted in there with Todd by Vanessa, who Todd has previously told about Jacob being a problem.
Despite knowing Jacob for most of his life, she is alarmed and angrily confronts him about his conduct. Todd’s sinister plan has worked, as Vanessa fumes at Jacob and says some really upsetting things that leave him in a state, unable to prove what Todd has done.
Enough is enough though and Jacob breaks down, and finally comes clean to Sarah about Todd’s harassment. As Sarah demands answers, he lays out all of the bullying leaving Sarah horrified but she vows to stand by him.
Todd certainly stirs the pot throughout the episode to make Jacob seem erratic and threatening, with Vanessa deciding to believe Todd over Jacob. Some fans have called this out though, reacting to the spoilers, and the episode, to share their confusion over Vanessa.
Given her close bond with Jacob’s late mother Leyla, and how long she has known him, fans said there’s no way Vanessa would believe Todd, who she has known for five minutes. Todd’s latest antics and Vanessa believing her left fans seething.
One fan said: “Just reading the spoilers about Vanessa believing Dr Todd and I honestly don’t know how anyone could genuinely believe Jacob is some abusive bully. Sure he’s a bit annoying at times but if anything he’s annoying cos he’s a bit of a wet wipe lol.”
Another agreed: “The idea of him of all people being an intimating bully seems laughable! He gives major golden retriever energy lmao. A lot of these people have known Jacob since he was a child or in his early teens lol.
“I just don’t buy it that anyone would ever believe he’s bullying Dr Todd lol. If I were in Vanessa’s position I’d think ‘okayyy but this doesn’t sound like Jacob, maybe there’s something else going on here’ lol.”
A third fan said: “I do hate this trope though of characters forgetting years of knowing someone and taking the word of a person they just met.” A fourth added: “Leyla and Vanessa were great friends, she’s known Jacob for years, if anyone should be defending Jacob it’s her! I hate how this is playing out.”
