Bombshell: Tess Daly announces major family update following Vernon Kay split
The Strictly star has a mysterious new project in the works.

Tess Daly is teaming up with her daughter, Phoebe Kay. Hinting at a mysterious new project, the presenter took to Instagram on Wednesday (5 August), quipping: “No longer bring your daughter to work day, but working alongside her.” A proud mum of two, Tess shares daughters Phoebe, 21, and Amber, 17, with radio star Vernon Kay.
The duo, who tied the knot in 2003, have continued to co-parent in recent months following their separation. “After much consideration, and with a deep sense of care and respect for one another, we have made the decision to separate amicably,” Tess and Vernon confirmed in a joint statement issued in May.
Clearly on good terms post-split, Vernon and Tess maintain a sweet friendship, with the father-of-two frequently celebrating her successes with swimwear brand Naia Beach on Instagram.
As for Tess’ latest project with Phoebe, the nature of their collaboration has yet to be revealed, but Vernon will definitely be cheering them on. An aspiring actor, Phoebe – who is currently studying at the New York Film Academy, as well as the Stella Adler Studio of Acting – is no stranger to the world of television.

According to her Backstage profile, the 21-year-old has landed background roles in Almost Never (2022) and The Blame (2025), so it’s possible that the mother-daughter duo could be teaming up on-screen.
An announcement that’s sparked excitement and intrigue, Tess and Phoebe’s famous friends have responded. “This is gorgeous,” replied Vicky Pattison. “Yesssss. It’s giving twins,” wrote entrepreneur Irene Agbontaen. Meanwhile, Tess’ long-time friend and Strictly co-star, Claudia Winkleman, responded with several heart emojis.
Among the comments, fans also noted the resemblance between Phoebe and her famous dad. “She looks like Vern,” declared one. “Gosh, she is so like her dad,” wrote another. “Both Beautiful. Phoebe looks like her dad I think, all grown up,” remarked a third.
