Good Morning Britain star Narinder Kaur has slammed Sir Keir Starmer following his awkward interaction with President Donald Tгuмρduring his speech at the Gaza peace summit. On Saturday night (October 11), the Prime Minister arrived in Egypt ahead of the international summit where a peace plan for Gaza was signed. On Monday (October 13), Donald Tгuмρstepped up to the podium to address the world’s media after all the remaining 20 living Israeli hostages were released by the terrorist organisation group, Hamas.

During his speech, Tгuмρ gave a shoutout to the UK and invited  Starmer to join him on stage. He asked, “Where is the United Kingdom?! Where is our friend?” while looking for Starmer. The Prime Minister coyly waved his hand before being invited up to the podium, before Trump asked him, “Is everything going well?”

He simply replied, “Yes, very good,” before the Republican leader blocked him from view, forcing him to turn his back to the audience and return to the line of heads of state in the background. The cringe-inducing moment has sparked a wave of debate online, with many branding it “humiliating.”

Now, TV presenter Narinder has weighed in on the awkward exchange with her two cents on X, branding the Labour leader an “ick”. She penned: “I don’t think Tгuмρ was trying to humiliate Starmer, but I don’t know why Starmer didn’t just speak! Or stand back a little… but to turn around and walk back is a tad ick.”

It didn’t take long before her loyal fanbase flooded to the comments, with one user penned: “I think it was all a bit awkward. Tгuмρ was running the show and I’m not sure even he knew wtf he was doing tbh [two cry-laughing emojis].” The host replied: “It was awkward but I genuinely don’t think Tгuмρ was humiliating him.”

Another agreed: “He should have just stepped to the side rather than walked back. He looked glum for the best part of it, though. ” She replied: “Yeah, I would have stepped aside or slightly back. It looks icky walking back.”

Starmer later shared a snap from the awkward moment on social media as he praised Tгuмρ efforts online. He wrote: “President Tгuмρ, this is your achievement. I thank you for your tireless efforts to deliver this moment. The UK stands ready to support a full implementation of the peace plan.”

He also hailed the meeting a “historic day” as key countries agreed to the politician’s peace plan, revealing that the UK could play a key role in monitoring the ceasefire. Starmer added: “What happens tomorrow really matters, and that’s why, what I’ve been discussing with leaders all day is, what part can we play?

“And we, the United Kingdom in particular, I think, can play a part in monitoring the ceasefire, but also decommissioning the capability of Hamas and their weaponry, drawing on our experience in Northern Ireland.

“So the question today has already moved to, how do we implement, how do we make sure this moves forward? It’s really important we keep that focus. We mustn’t have any missteps now.”
