Lorraine Kelly announces return of TV co-star Dr Hilary Jones after major surgery
The show’s resident GP has made his comeback
TV star Lorraine Kelly announced the return of Dr Hilary Jones during this morning’s (January 23) episode of her eponymous morning show.
Dr Hilary, who viewers know as a regular guest on the show, has been absent from screens for some months. However, on Thursday morning’s episode, he returned following medical issues.

Lorraine Kelly announces return of co-star Dr Hilary Jones
Announcing his return, Lorraine shared with viewers: “Look who’s back! Dr Hilary, he’s back!” Applauding his comeback, she declared: “We’ve missed you.”
After thanking the 65-year-old presenter, Dr Hilary said he had missed Lorraine too.
“You can see the evidence of why you’ve not been here,” she added before Dr Hilary lifted his foot to show off his medical boot.
Doctors don’t make good patients.
Dr Hilary revealed he had “a little disagreement with my Achilles tendon and a little boney spare at the back of my heel”, which he stated “had to be gone”.
After the screen displayed a photo of Dr Hilary’s swollen foot with stitches in the heel area, Lorraine asked: “You’ve not been able to do anything very much, have you?”
Dr Hilary insisted that “doctors don’t make good patients”, but reminded him that it reminds “us what it’s like to be a patient”.

Dr Hilary is ‘on the mend’
Despite taking time out from work, he said he was “on the mend”, feeling “fine” has “no pain”. Dr Hilary said he will be coming out of his heel boot in two weeks. After having to adjust the heel height “by 10 degrees every week”, he admitted: “It’s driving me crazy.”
On the plus side, he can now shower himself.
Happy to see Dr Hilary back in the studio with her, Lorraine insisted it’s been “really strange” without him.
Over the Christmas period last month, Dr Hilary also revealed had been affected by gout.
