If there was one thing on God’s green earth I thought I could count on, it was that I could get a corn dog at Reba’s new restaurant in Oklahoma.
She recently sat down with producer Dave Cobb on an episode of Southern Accents Radio to talk about faxing Dolly Parton about their duet for “Does He Love You,” her new gospel album My Chains Are Gone, in addition to giving an update on her restaurant, Reba’s Place, that’s set to open this fall.
She said they’ve been working on it for the last year and a half, perfecting the menu and getting a great team together in Atoka, Oklahoma:
“It is, Reba‘s Place in Atoka, Oklahoma. And we have the greatest team. We’re partnered up with the city of Atoka, Oklahoma, and the Choctaw Nation. We’ve been working on it for a year and a half.
And we’ve had such a good time. We’ve gone through the menu with Chef Curtis, now Chef Jordan, and we’ve hired our team, our crew. At first, it was a way to give back to the community, but I think they’re giving me more than I’m giving them.
It’s just that sense of reconnecting with everybody in that part of the country. And we’re having a great time with it and I can’t wait for it to open. Hopefully, it’ll be this fall.”
But the only bad news is… Reba says chicken fingers have replaced corn dogs on her list.
In a Q&A session with various members of the press, Reba confirmed some menu items:
“Chicken fingers have replaced corn dogs.
I guess we got a little burned out on the corn dogs, but Chef Curtis, who is doing the menus for us, is a wonderful chef. He’s got everything from really great steaks to cheeseburgers to beans and cornbread, corn dogs and chicken fingers will be there, also.
I told him, anytime they’re ready to start sampling all the good food… I’ll be ready to come in and help sample it all.”
While the place looks pretty swanky from what I can tell in the renderings.
The building will be a combination restaurant, bar, live music venue and retail store.
It will simply never get more iconic than this…
