GB News regular and former royal butler Grant Harrold has brutally shut down the Earl Charles Spencer following his bombshell remarks about King Charles’s supposed reaction to his sister, Princess Diana’s tragic death. In his upcoming and jaw-dropping memoir, Swan Song: Diana, My sister, the Earl claimed that the then-Prince Charles said: “Rest assured, we’ll forget her soon enough.” This comment was allegedly made during the arrangements for Diana’s funeral, where Prince William and Prince Harry, then aged 15 and 12, would walk in their mother’s funeral procession in September 1997.
Hitting back at the allegation, Grant stated: “The King certainly didn’t want Diana forgotten, I saw that firsthand.” The former Royal Butler to the King appeared on The Royals Uncensored to slam the claims, adding: “This is a nuclear strike at the heart of the monarchy. This is extraordinary, what’s come out.”

Speaking to hosts Jo Elvin and Katie Nicholl, the 48-year-old admitted: “I was quite shocked. Look, it’s completely possible that maybe it was an exchange of some kind, but I was around, especially in those days after Princess Diana had obviously died… And from my experience – and this is me being very honest and open with everyone here – he still, I believe, had feelings for [her], I think he still cared for her.”
Grant recalled: “He still wore her wedding ring as far as I could see, and that obviously was removed, obviously, after his next wedding. And there were other things around that very much meant she was still part of their lives.
“Now, why would you still want those memories? Why would you keep those things, those personal things, around if you were telling the world that she’ll be forgotten? He certainly didn’t want her forgotten, and I witnessed that firsthand. So I was quite angry and annoyed when I heard the comments because I thought, well, that’s really unfair,” Grant concluded.
Buckingham Palace has also hit back at claims written by Diana’s brother, as a spokesman said Charles is “mindful that the pain of fraternal grief can cloud reason”. “While we do not comment on books as a matter of principle, His Majesty is mindful that the pain of fraternal grief can cloud reason, affect judgment and colour memory in ways others do not recognise, even many years after such a loss,” the statement adds.

The nation was left heartbroken when Princess Diana died in a car crash in the Pont de l’Alma road tunnel in Paris on August 31, 1997.
Her funeral was held six days later at Westminster Abbey, during which a distraught Prince William and Prince Harry walked behind their mother’s coffin alongside King Charles, Prince Philip and Earl Spencer. The procession was shown on British television, attracting an audience of 32.1 million viewers.
