Coronation Street‘s Todd Grimshaw tries to hide his secret romance with Theo Silverton this week – and pressures Sarah Platt to pose as his girlfriend.

While he hopes it puts Theo’s oblivious wife off the scent, it also jeopardises Sarah’s blossoming romance with Kit Green. Is it over already with the cute cop?

“Theo initially seemed like Todd’s perfect man,” explains our Corrie insider. “He’s handsome, funny – but it turns out he’s also married to a woman. That’s not his only secret, as Todd is about to discover… And once Sarah gets drawn into the tangled web of deceit, the situation becomes even stickier.”

Reeling from the revelation that Theo has been with wife Danielle for almost 20 years, Todd encounters another surprise when the couple make a return visit to the undertakers to discuss a family bereavement.

With Danielle and Theo are their teenage son and daughter – who Todd had no idea existed. Theo being married and in the closet was one thing, but having children makes things a whole lot more complicated.

Theo is desperate to explain himself and later tries to get Todd on his own, cramping Sarah’s style in the process…

“As he’s been caring for poor Julie, Todd is completely shattered,” explains our source. “Sarah’s given him keys to her flat in case he needs some time to himself, but when Todd takes her up on the offer, he interrupts Sarah cosying up to Kit.

“Theo then arrives hot on Todd’s heels wanting to talk, and Sarah has to vacate her own flat to allow the boys some space.”

Theo is put on the spot as to why he never mentioned he was a dad, and why he’s been toying with Todd’s affections. Todd accepts that Theo is unable to properly commit to anything, but that doesn’t stop the strong attraction between the pair.

There’s a near-miss later in the week when Danielle almost catches her husband and Todd in the act. Begged by Todd to help him, Sarah intervenes, only to give Danielle the impression that Todd and Sarah are a couple.

“Sarah’s meeting Kit for a date at the Bistro, but when Danielle spies her having a pre-drink with Todd, he continues the ruse that Sarah is his girlfriend,” our insider adds.

“Todd impulsively kisses Sarah on the lips to make their fake romance believable, witnessed by a confused Kit.”

Can Sarah convince Kit that she’s not cheating on him with her gay ex? And where do Theo and Todd go from here?
