Al, 42, and Dylan’s, 69, encounter happened during Today’s Superfood segment on Friday.
The TV hosts were partners for that bit, competing against the show’s guests for the Movies and Munchies Superfood Quiz – romantic comedy edition.
While the Today moderators were standing behind their game show podium, the weatherman had reached for Dylan’s hand.
“You just tried to grab my hand,” she exclaimed.
Al confirmed that he did try to grab the Misty the Cloud author’s hand; however, he only did so because he was “trying to grab the buzzer” on the podium.
Dylan laughed, insisting that they were “just partners” on this.
Despite the NBC personalities seeming run-ins on the talk show, the two are actually close friends.
Last week, she opened up about the Today cast supporting their co-anchor, Al, through his health struggles.
THROUGH THICK & THIN
The Today show meteorologist and Today Third Hour anchor chatted exclusively with The U.S. Sun while playing golf as a celebrity guest at The Hilton Grand Vacations Tournament of Champions.
Dylan told The U.S. Sun that Al “is the picture of health.”
She said: “He is such an inspiration for the rest of us because we were all very open about how bad it got.”
In November 2022, Al was hospitalized for blood clots, and, in May 2023, he underwent knee replacement surgery.
Dylan continued: “…he didn’t even realize how bad of a situation he was in when he was at his worst dealing with his health problems around the holidays last year.
“Our hearts were breaking for everything he was going through and his family was going through, but in true Al fashion, he figured out what was wrong and he fixed it.”
She gushed: “I feel like Al is the bionic man and prayers go a long way – and we certainly were all praying for him at that difficult time.”
“He reminds us that we can all keep going no matter what happens in your life: just keep going,” Dylan graciously concluded.
BETTER AS A TEAM
Dylan hosts Today’s Third Hour with Craig Melvin, Al Roker, Hoda Kotb, and Sheinelle Jones, and she didn’t hold back from gushing over her co-anchors.
She claimed: “[Al] always teases me that I’m waiting for the day he retires.”
Dylan modestly continued: “I truly enjoy working with him so much. He’s just that quintessential guy who knows how TV works.”
The meteorologist gushed: “Chemistry happens when the person you’re with makes you shine, and that’s how it is with Al and Sheinelle and Craig – I mean, everybody that I get to work with on the 3rd Hour, we all… make each other shine.”
“There’s something so special about where we’re at right now,” she confessed, “I want what we’re doing to keep going as long as it keeps going.”
Dylan concluded: “Today feels like such a family to me, so I hope to stay as long as they’ll have me.”
She also often appears as a weather correspondent on Today weekdays, subs in for Al and Carson Daly, and appears on The Weather Chanel, and NBC Nightly News.
