The Duke of Sussex returned to the UK for a series of engagements, including marking the one-year countdown to the 2027 Invictus Games. Prince Harry later travelled to meet his father, King Charles, at his Gloucestershire residence, Highgrove House, where he was hosted by the monarch and Queen Camilla. The duke was joined by Meghan, Duchess of Sussex and the couple’s two children, Archie, seven, and Lilibet, five. It’s the first time they have seen their grandfather since the late Queen’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations in 2022.

TalkTV host Kevin O’Sullivan addressed the private royal reunion that Buckingham Palace confirmed took place on Friday. King Charles and Queen Camilla, 78, had welcomed the family at Highgrove House earlier that day.

Speaking on Tuesday’s edition of his show, Kevin commented: “Suddenly, it’s all up in the air but they managed to fly in Meghan, Archie and Lilibet from Portugal. We didn’t get to see them. They went straight to Highgrove and at last the King got to see his grandchildren.

“But it was all just a mess, wasn’t it?”

Journalist and royal biographer, Angela Levin, agreed, as she shared her sources revealed what took place during the family reunion.

She remarked: “It was a mess. What is very interesting about it is, the King insisted Camilla would be with him. Camilla is very particular about how people talk to him and particularly Harry.”

The show guest suggested Meghan and Harry were left disappointed following the meeting.

“The two of them could not do what they wanted,” Angela said, claiming, “Harry had sent in a list of what he wanted. He stayed in one of the palaces. Everything was going to be what they wanted. They didn’t get a thing.”

Angela concluded: “I think [Harry and Meghan] they must of absolutely hated it. There would have been conversation, but not very warm.”

The journalist also suggested the king would have invited Archie and Lilibet to play in the “minihouse” which is located in the garden.

Highgrove is famous for its extensive organic gardens, which the King designed and cultivated over four decades. One of the estate’s most notable features is the thatched Treehouse originally built in 1988 for Princes William and Harry, which has since been refurbished for King Charles’s grandchildren.

Both the palace and the Sussexes are reportedly determined to keep details of the meeting private to help advance reconciliation efforts.

Katie Nicholl, Vanity Fair’s royal correspondent, reported that the palace would not comment on the meeting or how long it lasted. A source told Nicholl that the king was “adamant” about keeping the meeting private, and Harry “assured” his father that he wouldn’t speak publicly about the family get-together”.
