Today Show fans have been longing for the return of beloved host Sheinelle Jones – and now her co-star has provided an update about how she is.
Sheinelle, 46, has been absent from the Today show since the end of 2024 due to a private family matter. Now her concerned fellow host Willie Geist has told fans how she is doing.
He said, “We’re giving her all the time she needs.” Willie gushed, “I cannot wait to see Sheinelle again.” He explained why she has been absent. He said, “She’s dealing with a family matter or private matter, and she is such a valued member of our family. ”
Willie gave insight into just how close they are as a work family and how much they are rooting for her. He said to People, “We want to just be there for her and whenever she feels ready to come back and sit with the group, we’ll give her the biggest hug she ever got.”

Sheinelle has not been on screen since last fall. After much speculation about where she was following several weeks of absence earlier this year, Sheinelle took to Instagram to explain that she was spending time with her family.
She wrote, “Hi everybody … I sincerely appreciate all of you who have reached out while I’ve been absent from the show. I want to share with you that I’m taking time to deal with a family health matter.
“It’s not lost on me how lucky I am to have not only the support of my Today show family, but also to all of you. Your kindness means so much to me. I’ll see you soon. Love, Sheinelle.”
Her costars provided a small update on how she was doing earlier this year. Al Roker, Craig Melvin, Dylan Dreyer and Emily Orozco were broadcasting aboard the MSC World America cruise ship when they opened up about their dear friend.
Emily asked, “Have you guys been in touch with Sheinelle? We miss her, we hope she’s doing well.” Craig replied, “Just talked to her a couple of days ago, as you know. She’s taking some time to be with her family.”
He added, “We talk to her all the time and we love our girl. It’s been nice to see how much everyone else loves her too.” Al added, “Exactly. We’re just praying for her.” Dylan then said, “She misses being here, you know, she wishes she was here with us but she’s doing what she needs to do and she’ll be back.”
