One character on Coronation Street could be forced to leave the Weatherfield cobbles behind as someone else on the fictional street issues a life-changing threat in upcoming scenes. Debbie Webster, played by Sue Devaney, threatens to reveal Abi (Sally Carman) and Carl’s (Jonathan Howard) affair to Kevin (Michael Le Vell) next week – unless Abi packs her bags and leaves No.13 behind for good.
The two have been sneaking about behind his brother and her husband’s back for the last few weeks, checking into hotels to keep their sordid romance a secret. But this week, the jig is up when Abi is caught out by Debbie after she catches her with a hotel key and is quick to demand answers. Abi makes out that she stayed at the hotel a while back and forgot to return the card. But, when Debbie asserts that she’s no recollection of her booking, Carl steps in and convinces her that her dementia is to blame – leaving her absolutely humiliated.

Abi seems to be rethinking things as she is left feeling unsettled by Carl’s ruthless approach, after telling him earlier that she’s not in the mood for sex and is dreading her birthday tea with Kevin and Jack.
However, before she can do anything else, she is once again confronted by Debbie who checked the CCTV at the hotel for footage of a theft but instead she spotted Abi heading to Carl’s room.
Making a huge threat, Debbie hammers on the door as she orders Abi to pack her bags and move out of No.13 or she’ll tell Kevin the whole sorry story.

Actress Sue Devaney, who plays Debbie, previously described the storyline as “heavy”. She told the press: “It’s not just having an affair with somebody in the street. It’s having an affair with the brother – that’s heavy.
“How’s Debbie going to find that? I think she’ll do some arguing and some shouting. I don’t think she’s going to take that lying down, knowing Debbie!”
