Unfortunate: It was revealed earlier this week that Kelvin had replaced the injured Made In Chelsea veteran Jamie Laing (pictured)
In a clip posted to his Instagram account on Sunday, the actor, 35, squealed with excitement as he discussed his upcoming appearance on the TV show, where he will be partnered with pro dancer Oti.
The soap star also wished Made In Chelsea’s Jamie, 30, a speedy recovery after damaging the tendon in his right foot, which cost him his position of the series.
An elated Kelvin said in the video: ‘Hey guys, just thought I’d say how just absolutely I’m overwhelmed by the response I’ve been receiving so far. I can’t believe it, it’s a dream come true.’
Admitting he’s not the best dancer, the racing driver added: ‘Those who know me, after a few beers, I love music and I love to dance, but that doesn’t mean I’ll be any good! Once you put choreography and a few dance moves, who knows?’
The sportsman went on to express his sympathy towards TV personality Jamie following his accident: ‘I’m so excited to meet all the fellow pros and the cast. It’s bittersweet with Jamie’s misfortune. I can’t help but feel for him.
‘So when I got the call, I, straight away, I thought of him. Jamie, if you’re watching this, I wish you all the best with your recovery. I’m sorry it’s in these circumstances.
‘For me, I’m absolutely delighted. I can’t thank BBC and Strictly enough. I can’t wait to get dancing. I’m away in Rome with my wife [Liz Marsland] and a few friends.’
The hunk also gushed about teaming up his new dance partner Oti, 29: ‘ll be back home to rehearse with the lovely Oti – I mean, she’s the best as well! I’m so happy. I can’t wait!
‘Thanks guys for all your comments, I’ll try to reply to as many people as I can. I’m so so happy.’
Sharing her delight over her new partner, South African beauty Oti tweeted: ‘When one door closes another opens…@kelvin_fletcher welcome to @bbcstrictly. let’s do this buddy it’s going to be one fun journey.’ [sic]
