Tuesday’s episode saw Aidan Moore wake from his coma, but what does this mean for John and Aaron’s upcoming wedding?

Aidan has been in a coma for a while, but we’re unaware of how he got there due to John’s lying nature.

With Aidan now awake, we take a look at what role he’ll play in former fiancé John’s wedding to Aaron Dingle.

Aidan is awake

When the name Aidan Moore was first mentioned in Emmerdale, we discovered that he’d been in the army with John Sugden.

John later shared that Aidan had died and he felt guilty that he hadn’t been able to save him. But while planning John’s stag do, Victoria got in touch with another former army pal of John’s – Connor.

Connor revealed that Aidan hadn’t just been John’s friend, they had actually been engaged. He then told her Aidan wasn’t dead at all, but was in a coma in a hospital in Leeds.

John secretly visited Aidan, though it was clear he resented his presence. John cruelly told Aidan: “Your mum still thinks you’re going to come out of this. Bless her. As if that’s gonna happen. You’re stuck. Locked in for eternity.”

However, that is not the case. Tuesday’s episode saw Aidan’s mum called to the hospital after Aidan moved his finger. As Cathleen begged her son to wake up, she mentioned that John was in the hospital and would come and see him soon. At the mention of John’s name, Aidan’s eyes shot open.

Will Aidan stop the John and Aaron’s wedding in Emmerdale?

Spoilers for next week reveal John decides to do a runner after work begins on dredging up the lake. Tormented by nightmares of being arrested for Nate’s murder, John decides he must flee.

However, John soon receives a loving message from Aaron, so decides to go through with the wedding after all.

But he has another problem when Cathleen visits him on his wedding day to inform him that Aidan has been asking for him.

John is then tormented by a new nightmare as he envisions Aidan interrupting his big day. However, when he snaps back to reality, although concerned about Aidan’s progress, John agrees to accompany Cathleen to the hospital.

Aaron fears the worst, so follows them. Believing that John still love Aidan, Aaron decides to call off the wedding.

John continues to have nightmares and visions, with a new one seeing Aaron back out just as they’re about to say I Do.

John manages to convince Aaron to marry him, but will the wedding be smooth sailing from there or will Aidan have the final say?
