It all started when Kelly shared an image of himself in Ukraine along with the caption—
“Just left Ukraine. What I saw proved to me we can’t give up on the Ukrainian people. Everyone wants this war to end, but any agreement has to protect Ukraine’s security and can’t be a giveaway to Putin. Let me tell you about my trip and why it’s important we stand with Ukraine.”
In a lengthy thread, Kelly went on to affirm the undeniable fact — which MAGA world now shamefully questions — that Russia started the war by invading. He praised American aid to Ukraine under the Biden administration as a key reason why Kyiv has not fallen to Putin.
“Donald Trump is trying to weaken Ukraine’s hand and we are owed an explanation. If Putin gains ground he won’t agree to a ceasefire and will eventually threaten a NATO ally and this puts American troops and the American people at risk,” Kelly wrote.
Not surprisingly, Kelly’s blunt statements of fact triggered Elon Musk, a man who wholeheartedly supports Donald Trump’s disastrous betrayal of Ukraine.
“You are a traitor,” Musk wrote in response to Kelly’s thread.
Of course, that word far better describes Trump and Musk himself, two corrupt billionaires who are undermining America’s interests abroad while lining their own pockets.
Never one to back down from a fight, Kelly promptly responded—
“Traitor?” he wrote on X with a screenshot of Musk’s attack. “Elon, if you don’t understand that defending freedom is a basic tenet of what makes America great and keeps us safe, maybe you should leave it to those of us who do.”
Well said senator! Patriotic Americans stand with you and democracy abroad. The MAGA authoritarianism that Musk is peddling has no place in this country.
