Priscila Oliveira Heldes is a female player who caused a stir when she appeared on the field in the Brazilian national volleyball championship in her fifth month of pregnancy.

Recently, a video of a match between the Fluminenses women’s volleyball club in the 2024-2025 Brazilian national championship appeared on social media. Notably, Fluminenses’ setter Priscila Oliveira Heldes still played while she was 5 months pregnant.

According to the images from the video, Heldes clearly showed her big belly whether she was standing or moving. However, the player born in 1992 still moved smoothly, playing the role of conductor with well-timed passes to her teammates. She also had a clever drop shot in the recently posted video.

Speaking to GloboTV about playing while pregnant, she said: “It was an important match with Fluminenses and it was special that I could experience this moment with my son.”

Heldes also stressed that the decision to compete was always made in consultation with her obstetrician. She is due to give birth in July.

“I’ve been under the care of specialists since I was pregnant. They told me that if I felt well, I could continue playing football. I didn’t suddenly start playing sports while I was pregnant. My body was used to it. I just had to be careful not to fall,” Heldes added.
