Emmerdale star Kelvin Fletcher didn’t have much time to prepare for this year’s Strictly Come Dancing, after he was drafted in as a last-minute replacement for Jamie Laing.
And the actor’s appearance on the BBC dancing competition also meant he had to pull out of another commitment – a panto role during the festive season.
Kelvin was scheduled to play the lead role in Aladdin at St Helens Theatre Royal from December 7th until January 12th.

But now Kelvin has now been replaced by Strictly professional Robin Windsor.
In a statement release on their Facebook page, the theatre wrote: “We are delighted to announce that Strictly Come Dancing‘s Robin Windsor will be waltzing on to our stage in the title role of Aladdin this Christmas!
“The dance professional replaces the previously announced former Emmerdale actor Kelvin Fletcher, who has joined this year’s Strictly line-up as a late addition after Jamie Laing had to withdraw due to injury.”
After replacing Jamie Laing, Kelvin was paired with pro dancer Oti Mabuse.
Speaking about his reaction to being paired with Oti, Kelvin said: “Oh god, I was so nervous before. But I couldn’t believe I’d been lucky enough to get Oti. She’s my favourite. It’s brilliant. I’m so happy.”
