A Place in the Sun’s Jean Johansson was left speechless as a couple revealed that they made a bold decision to make their holiday home their permanent residence.

Back in 2021, Alison and Mike decided to purchase their dream property in Tomar, Portugal. At the time, they were armed with a budget of £110,000, for somewhere spacious and close to a village with amenities.
Host Jean was on hand to help the couple on their search and after an intense search they fell in love with one property and managed to walk away the home.
Fast forward three years, the couple appeared on Thursday’s (March 19) edition of A Place in the Sun: What Happened Next?, where they were reunited with Jean, who was left speechless after their announcement.
Greeting the couple with a warm hug, Jean went on to say: “It’s so lovely to see you, how are you?” Mike replied: “Hello Jean, lovely to see you.”

Jean asked: “Can you believe this?” Mike said: “I know we were just saying, three years.” Keen to find out how they have been enjoying their holiday home, Jean asked: “So you’re enjoying lots of lovely holidays here?”
Alison left the host speechless as she revealed: “Well actually it’s no longer a holiday, it’s our permanent home.” It was clear Jean was not expecting that as she replied: “I can’t believe this has gone from a holiday home to you living here full time.” Alison added: “There is a lot that has happened.”
Standing outside the property, Jean was blown away by the changes they’ve made to their home, which they have since named Casa Rosa.
She pointed out: “It’s a bit different from when we started, it’s completely different. I love it.”

Alison explained: “Well, when we walk down into the little village at the bottom, the locals there sort of say ‘Aw you live in Casa Rosa?’ And we haven’t given it a name yet. I think it will be Case Rosa.”
Turning attention to the transformed front garden, Jean said: “Look at this garden. I bet it took a lot of rubbish to get it like this.”
Alison admitted: “Oh, it took a long time. I do a lot of matting and then over the top with the shingles so the guy was coming from the builders merchants quite a lot to drop off lots of shingles.”
Jean replied: “With the blue sky there, it just looks so perfect. I’m so happy for you.” Alison said: “I’m really happy. It’s just everything we wanted and more to be honest. So beautiful.”
