AWKWARD silence or SWEET surprise? Jenna’s dad’s REACTION to her co-host INVITE has everyone TALKING

Former President George W. Bush may always be there for daughter Jenna Bush Hager, but that doesn’t necessarily include her duties on TODAY.

While discussing on TODAY on March 31 how Tom Hanks appeared in a music video for his son Chet, Jenna said her own father wouldn’t have been on board with the idea.

“Some dads, like mine, would have said no,” she said.

“Your dad would have done it,” Al Roker said.

“Hmmm,” Jenna said while measuring if he would have.

“He wouldn’t come up for Family Week,” Craig Melvin chimed in, alluding to how Jenna’s sister, Barbara, their cousins and Jenna’s husband, Henry, all served as co-hosts on TODAY with Jenna & Friends last week.

“That’s true,” Jenna said. “And I saw him on Saturday and I tried to ask him for Father’s Day, and the answer is still — well, it’s a maybe.”

“Oh, Mr. President, please,” begged Savannah Guthrie.

“Maybe if you ask,” Jenna said to her.

“Oh, stop,” Savannah fired back.

While Jenna’s dad hasn’t committed to visiting TODAY, her mother, Laura Bush, did sit down with both her daughters for an interview that aired March 25, during which time the sisters read from their new book, “I Loved You First.”

“Daddy and I did love you first,” Laura Bush tearfully told her daughters.
