Strictly’s reigning champion Kelvin Fletcher has opened up on the rumours he is returning to the soap after he was reportedly pictured on set.
Speaking on Loose Women to presenters Andrea McLean, Kelle Bryan, Denise Welch and Carol McGiffin, Kelvin, 36, revealed he was not planning to reprise his role as Andy Sugden.
Instead, he explained, he was on the set to film a video ahead of his special Emmerdale Family Tree episode about the Sugdens, which airs on Thursday.
Kelvin also revealed he had auditioned for Strictly three different years before he was accepted on the show when Made In Chelsea star Jamie Laing was forced to pull out due to injury.

Andrea said: “You have apparently been spotted round the Emmerdale set, are you going back.
Kelvin, who played Andy for 20 years and grew up on the soap, replied: “It’s news to me if I am, I was only there to film a little interview.
“So no, I have no plans to go back, I was there to film an interview.”

Speaking about Strictly, which he won alongside Oti Mabuse, Kelvin said he had auditioned three times for a place on the show, but lost out.
He said: “As an actor you are very used to rejection, but I always change it to redirection, I was redirected an awful lot.
“And then got the call out of the blue to say unfortunately somebody had been the victim of an injury and there was a place there if I wanted it.”
Kelvin also revealed his four-year-old daugher Marnie loved to recreate his dances on the show with him, and he laughed about how proud she is of him.
He admitted she approaches people in shops to ask if they have heard of her famous dad and that he won Strictly.
Kelvin then played a soap quiz with Corrie star Brooke Vincent on a video call as they had to guess which soap corresponded with the questions including, “Which soap has the most characters?” (Answer = Emmerdale.)
