Lydia Dingle was mentioned yet again last night (Thursday, May 22) in Emmerdale but she wasn’t actually seen, with fans worrying for Karen Blick.

Fans have grown concerned for both the character and actress ever since Lydia failed to appear at her own 50th birthday party. We know right…

And, now, she’s still not returned home or been seen on screen…

Lydia Dingle goes ‘missing’ in Emmerdale

Lydia has been spending some time with her mum away from Emmerdale village, with Sam Dingle trying to make sure nothing goes wrong while she’s away.

When Gabby and Vinny (very briefly) moved into the Dingle house, Thomas accidentally caused one of Steve’s eyes to fall out (just a taxidermy bird, don’t panic.)

Gabby did replace it with a button so we’re sure Lydia won’t be too suspicious… Hmm… Actually…

Then there was Lydia’s 50th birthday party. She was expected to be the star of the show as Kim worked alongside Sam to throw a surprise party for her at Home Farm.

But, with Lydia stuck in traffic (typical), she actually failed to miss the party. Just as well as it meant she wasn’t a suspect in Joe Tate’s whodunnit.

And now, Sam has more recently told Kim that Lydia’s getting on okay back seeing her mum… despite apparently returning home just the other week. So, what’s going on here?

Emmerdale fans fear for Lydia Dingle’s future on the show

With Lydia being talked about but not actually seen on screen for quite a while now, fans have grown concerned about both the character and actress Karen Blick.

One moment she had broken down on the way to her party, and the next she’d decided to return back to looking after her sick mum…

Taking to X, one fan shared: “What is the story with Lydia, back again with her sick mother, has the actress left?”

Another fan commented: “Lydia – who has joined the bunch of characters in the attic (those who haven’t emigrated to Australia, that is).”

A third person asked: “Anyone know how long it takes Lydia to change a tyre on the way to her party? Asking for a friend lol.”

All we know about Karen Blick’s role as Lydia Dingle in Emmerdale

It appears that Karen Blick is just taking a break from scenes at the moment, with Lydia Dingle not appearing on screen as much.

There has not been any official confirmation or reports that Karen Blick is leaving the soap, and it doesn’t look like she’s currently working on any other projects.

On the actresses’ Instagram page, her bio still reads: “Actor currently playing Lydia Dingle in Emmerdale.”

So, hopefully we’ll see Karen back as Lydia on our screens soon…
