Strictly Come Dancing star Amber Davies has revealed she danced the first show with “a hole in her foot” after suffering horrendous blistering when she joined the show as a last minute addition and threw herself into training. The Love Island icon turned West End performer only joined the show after the official launch when reality star Dani Dyer was forced to drop out after fracturing her ankle.
Speaking exclusively to Express.co.uk alongside her pro partner Nikita Kuzmin, she admitted she was not prepared for the effect the show would have on her feet. “Strictly in general blisters (are challenging). Honestly, don’t underestimate the pain of blisters, especially when you’re putting on this one shoe like all week. And if you create the blisters on Monday, you spend a whole week in pain. I did one week where I had really bad blisters. Now I have a whole routine where I basically plaster my whole feet up so I cannot get one.”
Amber’s new strategy comes after she danced through the pain following a particularly gruesome blister experience.
“It’s just about managing it really, and learning from your mistakes. Like, don’t wear a heel without protecting the parts of your feet that you can feel are hurting.
“But it’s really odd, because when, for example, when I had a massive hole in the back of my foot when we did the (first) live show, I couldn’t feel it, obviously, because I was just filled with adrenaline.
“So half the time you can’t really feel it, because you just push through it,” she said.
Despite her theatre background which requires long hours of rehersals and high octane performaces for eight shows a week Amber says nothing prepared her for the Strictly workload.

“I am finding it more difficult than I thought I was going t,” she admittted. ” I think it’s the chopping and changing of the different styles every week. Just as you start getting used to one style and your body gets used to one style, you flip it on its head. I’m waking up muscles that I haven’t felt since my teens.
“But I love it. I love learning new new things and new styles so my mind is like in its element, learning all of this stuff. It’s like musical theatre rehearsal times a million.
“It’s like a lot more intense, a lot quicker speed. It’s like an opening night every week. It’s so much more intense than a musical theatre rehearsal room.
“You have six weeks to open one show? (in theatre). This is four days to create our own little show every week!”
