The reported intervention comes as fresh claims surrounding Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s potential return to the UK have thrown the Royal Family’s long-running divisions back into the spotlight.
According to reports, King Charles has become increasingly determined to arrange a crucial face-to-face meeting at Balmoral Castle in Scotland involving both the Prince and Princess of Wales and the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.
But the plan is said to have run into a major obstacle.
William and Kate are reportedly reluctant to reconcile with Harry and Meghan without what they believe should be a meaningful public apology for the years of allegations, interviews and damaging claims that followed the Sussexes’ departure from royal life.
That resistance is now reportedly causing frustration for the King.
One source claimed that Charles believes the situation has reached a dramatic turning point. What was once seen as the “Sussex problem” is allegedly beginning to look more like a “Wales problem”, as William and Kate refuse to make the first move towards reconciliation.
“Neither Kate nor William are prepared to make the first move, as they don’t believe they should apologize and forget everything that’s happened,” a source reportedly told Closer.
“It makes it impossible to move forward.”
The tension is particularly sensitive for Charles, who is reportedly eager to find some form of peace between his two sons.
The King is said to understand that the relationship between William and Harry may never return to what it once was. Yet the continued hostility could create an even deeper crisis if Harry and Meghan spend more time in Britain.
That is where William and Kate’s PR executive, Liza Ravenscroft, is reportedly being drawn into the increasingly complicated situation.
Ravenscroft, who joined Kensington Palace only months ago, is said to be encouraging the Prince and Princess of Wales to find a way to move forward — even if complete forgiveness remains out of reach.
Her reported strategy is not simply about repairing the royal relationship.
Sources claim she is also focused on making William and Kate more visible, strengthening their connection with the public and ensuring their royal work is not constantly overshadowed by renewed drama involving Harry and Meghan.
“The strategy is to make William and Kate more visible and improve their relationship with the public through engagements,” an insider reportedly said.
“But they also need to draw a line under the negativity surrounding Harry and Meghan.”
The challenge, however, is enormous.
William is reportedly still deeply hurt by his brother, while Kate is said to share his reluctance to simply forget the past.
Neither appears ready to make a dramatic public gesture unless they believe the Sussexes have genuinely accepted responsibility for the damage caused by the family rift.
Yet Charles reportedly sees time as increasingly important.
A meeting at Balmoral could provide an opportunity to finally confront the issues that have divided the family for years — but it could just as easily expose how far apart they still remain.
Liza is reportedly hoping to “turn the tide” if the family does come together in Scotland later this month.
But with William and Kate refusing to abandon their position and Charles allegedly losing patience, the Palace now faces a brutal question: can the future King and Queen be persuaded to move forward — or has the royal feud reached a point where even the Palace’s most carefully planned PR strategy cannot fix it?
