BREAKING NEWS: B0mbshell Meghan and Harry announcement leaves GMB viewers furious
ITV viewers were left unimpressed by Good Morning Britain’s royal update.

On Tuesday (September 8), Good Morning Britain viewers were left furious by the ITV programme after presenters Ed Balls and Susanna Reid revealed that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle would be the top story of the day. This comes after King Charles issued an official letter confirming that the Sussexes would remain non-working royals upon their return to the UK. The letter also affirmed their status as private citizens and clarified that any ongoing charitable work remains personal and independent of the Palace.
Despite this, many viewers were left fed up as the ITV presenters encouraged fans to get in touch and share their thoughts via a poll asking whether the King was right to rule out their royal roles. Taking to X/Twitter, one fumed: “Yet another day of the unhealthy obsession they have banging on about Harry and Meghan. YAWN YAWN YAWN.” As another echoed: “@GMB The Harry & Meghan non-story is your lead story today. Ever thought about shutting the hell up and leaving them alone now they are ‘private’ citizens?”

One demanded: “Stop @gmb giving Harry & Meghan airtime. Reason they’re back is the USA stopped being interested in them, and they only appear to thrive on ‘drama & causing havoc.'”
“Nearly 15 minutes on #GMB re Harry and Meghan. Bonkers,” remarked another viewer.
As a fifth questioned: “@GMB, how is this even news? Just an excuse to roll out Chris Ship and discuss all things, Harry and Meghan. We know they’re not working Royals.”
“Harry and Meghan YAWN They’re not worthy news @susannareid100 and @edballs. You’re OBSESSED with them, I’m sure they have fans here, but I’m also sure that the majority of the population ISN’T interested in them,” stated another.

During the segment, Ed and Susanna were joined by royal editor Chris Ship, who was reporting live from Eton, who addressed King Charles’ concern and motivation for releasing the official letter.
He said: “Given who the letter was sent to, the government, lords, lieutenants, the King’s representatives, members of the military, and it comes at a time where the royals are beginning their work, their engagements after the summer.
“So there was clearly a concern in the palace that if the King and Queen, William and Kate, are going back to work, at what point is it going to clash with duties that Meghan and Harry will now be doing in the UK.”
Chris continued: “It is my understanding that probably next week, we will see Harry making a public appearance for the first time. Therefore, there was obviously concern in the palace that some people might confuse Harry and Meghan doing these things with them not returning to the Royal Family.
“There was never any suggestion, not least from Harry and Meghan, that they were coming back to re-join the Royal Family and the palace even said, three weeks ago, when this news broke, that the King welcomes their return, but their status hadn’t changed.”
