TalkTV presenter Kevin O’Sullivan has hit back at the police for their handling of the investigation into Ann Widdecombe’s murder. The former Reform UK spokeswoman was found dead at her home in Devon on Thursday, July 9th, having sustained serious injuries. Devon and Cornwall Police has come under fire over its handling of the investigation into the death of Ann Widdecombe after the case was transferred to Counter Terrorism Policing.
The force had repeatedly said there was nothing to suggest the killing had been politically motivated or linked to terrorism in a series of public statements. But counter terrorism police are now leading the investigation after “new information and evidence” came to light, officers say.

Kevin was discussing the news on the show, and he was furious at the police’s warning. “Don’t tell us not to speculate, of course we will speculate in the pub, chatting with our families and friends,” he said. “But don’t say that when you don’t know! They clearly had no idea if it was politically motivated or if it was terrorism.”

The broadcaster then condemned the police for “treating the public like kids”. He pointed the fingers at the “top cops, the woke chief constables and the senior officers who have taken a political line to keep peace in the country”.
Kevin added: “It sounds outrageous, we are not children.” But he also launched an attack at the left-leaning commentator and called out their “disgusting” behaviour.

He continued: “Some of the left-leaning people were just extraordinary. They are so vicious and vile, dancing on Ann Widdecombe’s grave. They have a go at Reform UK, Nigel Farage. They’ve got their problems at the moment, they are on the front pages for different reasons.
“But these lefties are saying Nigel Farage is using this tragedy. Yeah, it’s come in handy, this tragedy, this slaughter of Ann Widdecombe. Because they can deflect from their own problems, they are using it to get their problems off the front page. But what a disgusting thing to say. Why would you criticise that human decency? Really, it’s disgusting,” he added.
However, social media users have split views, and some disagreed with Kevin. A person said: “You have no idea how a police investigation works.”
Another wrote: “So when people like you complained the police didn’t release enough information in previous incidents, you now complain they were too transparent by saying they didn’t currently know?”
Laurence Taylor, the head of Counter Terrorism Policing, said: “We now have new information and evidence that means Counter Terrorism Policing is leading the investigation… We are pursuing multiple lines of inquiry to establish the motivation for this attack.”
