Lindsay Czarniak, wife of TODAY show host Craig Melvin, is a highly respected figure in the broadcasting world, known for her impressive journalism career and award-winning work in sports media. With an Emmy to her name, Lindsay has spent years covering major sporting events and high-profile stories across networks like Fox Sports and ESPN. She also created and hosts her own podcast, The Artist and the Athlete with Lindsay Czarniak, which explores the intersection of creativity and athleticism through in-depth interviews.
Lindsay and Craig’s story began in Washington, D.C., where the two first met while working at NBC Washington. At the time, Craig had recently joined the station in 2008 as a news anchor, while Lindsay was already serving as the sports anchor. Their shared passion for journalism helped spark a strong connection, and their relationship blossomed both personally and professionally. The couple married in 2011 and have since built a beautiful family together. They welcomed their first child, a son named Delano, in 2014, followed by a daughter, Sybil, in 2016. Their partnership continues to inspire fans, both for their accomplishments on screen and their loving bond off camera.
She’s had a long career as a sports anchor and reporter
Lindsay worked for ESPN from 2011 to 2017, anchoring “SportsCenter,” “SportsNation” and “NASCAR Now.” During that time, she also became the first woman to host ABC’s annual coverage of the Indianapolis 500.
Lindsay joined Fox Sports in 2019 as a NASCAR studio host for “Nascar Race Hub: Weekend Edition” and “Nascar Race Hub.” She also served as an NFL sideline reporter.
“I really just love the opportunity to share what’s going on, and talk about a game, and cover a game, but also let people understand the context behind it,” she told People in 2020. “My favorite part of the weekend — besides when kickoff happens — is sitting and getting the access to these players and coaches, and just hearing them talk about what they’ve gone through this week in life.″
She hosted a podcast about sports and music
In 2021, Lindsay launched her own podcast, “The Artist and the Athlete with Lindsay Czarniak,” which showcased famous athletes and musicians in conversation with each other.
Her guests included some of the biggest names in sports and music, including Eddie Vedder, Anthony Rizzo, Alanis Morissette, Danica Patrick, Brad Paisley and Clayton Kershaw.
She said something ‘clicked’ when she met Craig
Lindsay recalled the early days of her romance with Craig during a 2011 feature about their wedding in the Washington Post.
Lindsay and Craig met when she returned to work at NBC Washington after covering the Beijing Olympics in 2008, she recalled.
The two hung out as friends and then dated casually for months. with Craig wanting to better define the relationship. Finally, Craig asked Lindsay to meet for drinks so he could pitch the idea, again, of making their romance exclusive.
“That night when we met, there was something that clicked,” Lindsay recalled at the time. “And it was wasn’t necessarily that I knew, ‘I have to be with this guy.’ But it was like, ‘I don’t want to be with anyone else that I’d hung out with,’” she says. “It felt like being with the person that really gets you and that you’ve known for a really, really long time.”
She and Craig share two kids
Lindsay and Craig are parents to two children, son Delano, born March 10, 2014, and daughter Sybil, born Nov. 5, 2016.
The proud mom frequently shares pics of her family on Instagram.
When Sibyl turned 8 in November 2024, Lindsay shared pics of her little girl over the years, including one of Lindsay and Craig donning birthday hats in celebration.
“This is 8!” Lindsay captioned the pics. “It was a full day celebrating the girl that lights us up more than we could ever imagine. Her kindness, creativity, honesty and fearlessness inspires me every day.”
