In a recent stream, Speed pointed out that he met with one of the producers of One Piece, and she has supposedly allowed him to stream the episodes of the anime on his channel.

This is certainly a big achievement for the YouTuber, considering the fact that the studio and the creators of One Piece are quite strict when it comes to such things. Thus, there were many fans who didn’t believe Speed’s enticing news and pointed out that the popular YouTuber might have been duped by someone posing as a member of the One Piece franchise.

This was evidently confirmed by one of the official One Piece staff members who is currently working on the live-action adaptation of the series. The staff member pointed out that he does not believe Speed got the green light to stream One Piece anime episodes, as it will cause big problems with the streaming platforms that stream One Piece.

IShowSpeed’s claim about streaming One Piece

Ever since IShowSpeed’s career as an online streamer took off, he has proved himself to be a massive One Piece fan. He has openly talked about his love for the series and how it has changed his life. Not only that, he even pointed out that a few years ago, One Piece literally saved his life and brought him out of depression during a tough moment.

The American YouTuber recently showcased his massively expensive gaming PC setup, which is entirely based on the theme of One Piece. It includes significant aspects of the series, like the Straw Hat Pirates Jolly Roger and a 3D-printed Luffy head hanging right on top of him. He truly proved that he is one of the biggest One Piece fans in the world.

However, things became overly exciting when Speed announced on his stream that he recently met with a One Piece producer who has agreed to whitelist his YouTube channel, which would allow him to stream One Piece episodes without getting copyrighted. He even pointed out that he has a vlog coming up that would prove all his claims to be true.

One Piece staff doesn’t believe in IShowSpeed’s claim

Greg Werner is the series advisor for the One Piece live-action adaptation on Netflix. Just like Speed, he is also one of the biggest fans of the series, and his love for One Piece got him the opportunity to work for the One Piece franchise as an official member. Werner recently shared a tweet on X that talked about Speed’s claim of getting the rights to stream One Piece.

While the tweet doesn’t directly mention IShowSpeed’s name, it pointed out the claim made by him. In the tweet, Werner stated that it is likely that he met with an “oblivious low-rung Toei US-based employee” who allowed him to show One Piece clips on his channel.

He also pointed out that if he gets the green light to stream One Piece, it would cause big problems with the official streaming platforms that paid millions for the rights to stream One Piece.

However, according to the official One Piece YouTube channel, Speed met with Miki Kobayashi, a producer with Toei Animation responsible for One Piece. She is definitely not a “low-rung” employee, and even Speed’s cameraman made the claim that Speed was in talks with the One Piece producer and has definitely got the green light. Thus, fans will have to wait for any official statement to find out what the situation is.
