The Chase was back on ITV last night (March 11), and one of the contestants came under fire for his part in a pretty disastrous game.

Fans of the show were quick to mock the poor player on social media during yesterday evening’s episode. Especially after his occupation was revealed by host Bradley Walsh…

What happened on ITV gameshow The Chase last night?

Last night saw four new contestants take on The Chaser – Vixen Jenny Ryan – in the hope of winning a huge cash prize.

The team consisted of Faisal, Sarah, Carole and Jamie.

Faisal, who was up first, answered just two questions correctly in the Cash Builder. However, he managed to avoid Jenny Ryan and bring £2,000 back to the table. Sarah was up next. She too answered two questions correctly, racking up £2,000. She also evaded Jenny to book a slot in the final.

Carole from Flintshire was up third. She got three questions correctly but opted to take the low offer of £1,000. It worked out, as she also managed to stay out of Jenny’s clutches. Jamie, an airline pilot from Glasgow, was up last.

£8k prize pot branded ‘a joke’

Jamie managed to answer three questions correctly in the Cash Builder. However, he did pass on a couple. He also took some time to think on his answers. When he went up against Jenny, Jamie managed to answer his questions correctly, bringing his £3,000 back to the table.

Heading into the final, the team of four had £8,000 to play for, something some fans branded “a joke”.

With a four-point head start, the team managed to answer 11 questions correctly, meaning Jenny would have to answer 15 questions correctly to catch them. She did – with 30 seconds remaining.

Fans slam Jamie on The Chase

Viewers were quick to slam Jamie, mocking the fact that he’d been slow to respond to questions – something that’s pretty essential in a pilot.

“A pilot that’s a bit slow to respond is the stuff of nightmares,” one fan joked.

“I flew Heathrow to Glasgow last year. The thought that he might have been my pilot terrifies me,” another wrote.

“I would never have thought he was an airline pilot,” a third said.

“Pretty sure he was autopilot for that cash builder,” another quipped.

Other viewers took aim at the team as a whole. “Waste of an hour which I will never ever get back!” one viewer fumed.

“This episode has been diabolical! No contestant getting above £3k in the Cash Builder and are playing for only £8k for four people in the Final Chase! This surely has to hold the title for the most boring episode of The Chase to ever exist!” another raged.
