“This Is an Absolute Disgrace” — BBC Forced to Respond After Strictly Come Dancing Viewers Erupt in Fury Over Phone Voting Chaos

The BBC recently introduced a wave of changes to Strictly Come Dancing, which hasn’t gone down well with fans online. On Sunday (October 5), viewers tuned in for the results show, which noticeably featured a new voting system. Rather than calling up to vote for their favourite couple, viewers can now scan a QR code on the screen to place their votes online.

Viewers will need to sign up to their BBC account or create one online for free to place their votes. It’s fair to say the end of premium-rate phone lines hasn’t gone down well with fans, with many furious that it’s cutting off a large portion of the audience watching at home.

Now, the flagship channel has released a statement following the wave of complaints it has received about the discontinuation of the reality show’s call lines.

They wrote: “We understand that the changes to the premium-rate phone vote are disappointing for some viewers. We know fans of Strictly who like to vote by phone will be impacted, and it’s not something we would have chosen.

“The decision to discontinue such services was made by BT, who previously supplied this to service providers working with the BBC and other broadcasters. We have carefully explored phone voting alternatives that would be in line with Ofcom regulations, including ensuring that the Strictly vote is timely and reliable.

“Unfortunately, no viable replacement is available, and so voting will now take place online for all BBC programmes. Online voting is already the most popular method on BBC show,s with the majority of votes in the last series of Strictly cast this way.”

They continued: “To support those new to online voting, clear instructions will be provided during the show. All you need to cast a vote is a free BBC account, which is quick and easy to set up. Full details are available on our ‘Get the Best out of the BBC’ page.”

After Strictly shared a step-by-step guide on how to vote under the new system on Instagram, many took to the comments to express their disappointment for those unable to vote online. One user wrote: “My nan has been a fan of Strictly for years and is not online at all. It’s really upset her as she loves to support her favourite couples each year.”

Another fumed: “Not everyone has internet access or the computer skills for this, particularly the older fans, of which I am sure that there are many. For a show that’s seemingly doing its best to promote inclusion, this makes that gesture feel quite performative.”

A third echoed: “This is a ridiculous change. Some people have been watching for 20 years and have no idea how to do anything online. You’re excluding a large amount of your audience for no reason.”

Meanwhile, others argued that this change was bound to happen and that many elderly viewers are very up to date with the times. One user pointed out: “Every family member I have in that generation uses Facebook and WhatsApp to contact family and is a competent smartphone user; this tech has existed for nearly two decades now.”

Another agreed: “People moaning about elderly people not being able to vote – my grandparents all use the internet over the age of 80 and 90 and no issues. Don’t understand the panic.”

But that wasn’t the only change to the results show, after they debuted a brand-new order of play on the evening show. Last year, the professional dancers opened the show with a group dance before delivering half of the results.

Before the final round of the cast results, Claudia hosted the judges’ critiques and the musical act before closing the show with the dreaded dance-off and eliminating one couple from the competition.

But this year, producers shook up the format, instead opening the show with a reflection of last night’s show, pushing the group dance to halfway through the show, and splitting up the results segment into three sections instead of two.

It didn’t take long before viewers flocked to social media to voice their frustrations online, as one fumed: “Now they don’t announce the first bottom two couples at the start? Can they stop changing the format please, I don’t like it.”

Another agreed, “I hate the new results show format. It’s so weird. I preferred it before.” A third chimed in, “Dear Strictly producers, The new Results show format is terrible—please change it back as a matter of urgency. By next week at the latest—ideally partway through this show.”

A fourth chimed in: “The new results format made me feel like I just watched it on 1.5x speed.” A fifth pointed out, “I don’t like the new format where the last four couples discover if they’re in the dance off.”

Shirley Ballas has issued a statement after the d3ath of her “d3ar friend” Michael Wentink. The former Strictly Come Dancing South Africa judge has di3d aged 46 as tributes have poured in for the “true industry legend”. Shirley posted a series of photos and videos onto Instagram and said she was feeling “very sad this morning”.

The head judge paid tribute to her friend and fellow dancer as she wrote: “Michael wasn’t just part of my life, he was like family. He wasn’t just an incredible dancer, he was a kind, caring soul who brought so much joy, warmth, and laughter into our lives.

“His loyalty and love were unmatched, and his smile was irreplaceable. He spent many days at my house, he loved the children and would forever be checking in. One of the kindest souls I’ve had the pleasure of crossing paths with.”

The dancer shared a series of snaps of the pair to her feed including videos of them performing together, alongside a photo of Michael by himself at the end.

Referencing a photo she shared to her Instagram of the pair in a bright blue combo, she said: “I’ll never forget suggesting this aqua suit to Michael, and he just laughed saying, “Let’s give it a go, Shirls.” @alanate11 did hair and as a team we all pulled it together so very beautifully. They danced magnificently and won.

“That’s a day I’ll carry with me forever. You touched so many lives, Michael, and I’m blessed to have been one of them.

“With a heavy heart, I’ll miss you deeply. Rest in peace, my friend, alongside your beautiful Beata. Forever in our hearts. X”

The news of his d3ath was confirmed by his dance partner and close friend, Ralf Lepehne, who shared a tribute to him on his socials.

Ralf said Michael had “left us far too soon and the loss is immeasurable”, and added that Michael had been battling “the relentless weight of depression with quiet courage”.

He wrote: “His passing is a painful reminder that the brightest lights often cast the deepest shadows”. Continuing: “While our world is dimmer without him, Michael’s spirit, laughter and his profound passion for dance will live on in our hearts forever. May you finally find the peace you so deserved, Michael.”

SH0CKING: Heartbreak for Lucy Beaumont as Truth Behind Shock Split from Jon Richardson Finally Comes to Light

The Celebrity Traitors – Official Trailer – BBC

Lucy Beaumont is most recognised for her comedic work, frequently alongside her former spouse Jon Richardson.

Nevertheless, she’s now venturing on a somewhat different path with Celebrity Traitors.

The TV personality is amongst the 19 famous faces who have signed up to appear on the BBC reality programme, where she’ll be joined by the likes of Alan Carr, Kate Garraway and Charlotte Church at Scotland’s Ardross Castle under the gaze of presenter Claudia Winkleman.

Whilst Lucy has featured in programmes such as The Wheel and Bake Off, she established her reputation in comedy.

Shows with her former partner are amongst her most recognised work, including Jon and Lucy’s Odd Couples and Meet The Richardsons, which featured the duo portraying exaggerated versions of themselves, reports the Daily Record.

However, the collaboration concluded last year when Lucy and Jon parted ways.

The couple married in 2015, reportedly after fellow comedian Roisin Conaty introduced them, and they had daughter Elsie the subsequent year.

But in April last year they announced that they were ending their relationship.

Revealing the separation in a statement shared on Instagram, they said the choice was made “jointly and amicably”.

“After nine years of marriage, we would like to announce that we have separated,” they said.

“We have jointly and amicably made the difficult decision to divorce and go our separate ways.

“As our only priority is managing this difficult transition for our daughter, we would ask that our privacy is respected at this sensitive time to protect her well-being. We will be making no further comment.”

The couple kept mum about the details of their split, with Lucy telling OK! magazine in September 2024: “People might think I should talk about it because we were so public and everyone knew us as a couple, but I won’t, and not because there’s any animosity. We both agreed that while it might be weird for other people not hearing anything about it, we wouldn’t talk about anything to do with the marriage or each other.”

In the months following their separation, it was widely reported that Jon had paid Lucy a staggering £1.625 million for her shares in a company where they were both listed as directors.

Heartbreak for Strictly Star as She’s Rushed to Hospital After Sudden Collapse — ‘I Couldn’t Stop Crying’

‘I don’t know what this is’

Tracy Beaker star Dani Harmer was left “devastated” after being rushed to hospital with a mystery illness recently.

The former Strictly star, 36, who appeared on the hit dancing competition back in 2012, shared the news with her followers on TikTok.

Strictly star Dani Harmer rushed to hospital

Taking to TikTok last month, Dani revealed that she had been forced to go to hospital after falling ill.

In the video posted for her 401k followers to see, Dani said: “I am not very well. I was admitted to the hospital over the weekend. But I’m out.

“I feel like poo, actually. They’re not entirely sure what’s wrong with me so I’m still having tests,” she then continued.

“I’m absolutely gutted that I’ve had to cancel work and a job that I was really excited to do. Those that know me know how much I love my job. So, absolutely devastated,” she then wrote.

“Thank you to those that have messaged me asking if I’m okay. I will hopefully be back and on my feet soon.”

    Dani’s update

In an update posted earlier this month, Dani opened up about how she was getting on.

The star revealed that she was up and out of bed. However, she confessed, “I’m still not 100% by any means.”

“I’m still not good man, I don’t know what this is, it is so weird,” she then continued.

She added that she was still having tests, but didn’t reveal her symptoms as she didn’t want people diagnosing her from afar.

However, Dani explained that it was likely an infection that “got out of hand”.

“But I am on the mend,” she said. Dani then went on to say that she’s feeling “down in the dump” as she should have been on the new job.

    Fans send their support

Fans of the star took to the comment section to send the star their love and support.

“Hope you feel better soon lovely xxx,” one fan commented.

“Good to see you back. The main thing is your health and to rest and recover,” another said.

“Aw I’m so glad you’re feeling a bit better and are managing to get out a bit!” a third added.

“Feel better soon Dani sending u loads of love,” another gushed.

  • Royal Shock: Prince William ‘Slams Palace Door’ on Meghan Markle’s Return – ‘The Monarchy Isn’t a Revolving Door’

Royal Shock: Prince William ‘Slams Palace Door’ on Meghan Markle’s Return – ‘The Monarchy Isn’t a Revolving Door’

Prince William's desire to strip Meghan's title could get public support: expert | Fox News

“Not on my watch!” — four words, delivered with icy precision, have reportedly slammed the palace doors shut on Meghan Markle’s hopes for a royal comeback. The source? None other than Prince William, the man destined to be king, and now, the gatekeeper of the monarchy’s future.

Just as whispers began swirling in royal circles about Meghan’s carefully managed plan for a return to royal life, William is said to have drawn his line in the sand. “He’s not budging,” one palace insider confided. “William’s message is clear: the monarchy isn’t a revolving door. Not now. Not ever.”

It’s the kind of drama royal watchers crave — a battle of wills between the future King and the woman who once promised to modernize the Crown. Meghan, hailed at first as a breath of fresh air, has since become both an icon and a lightning rod for controversy. Her attempts to re-enter the royal fold? Met with what can only be described as a royal blockade.

But why the hard stance, and why now? Sources close to William say it’s about more than old grudges. “He’s thinking about the big picture,” an aide reveals. “Every move is under the microscope. Bringing Meghan back would mean reliving every scandal, every headline, every family feud. William wants stability — not another storm.”

WILLIAM NOT READY TO MEET HARRY FOR THIS REASON | - YouTube

The stakes are even higher with reports swirling that William, once crowned, may move to strip Meghan of her royal title for good. “It’s not personal,” insists one royal advisor. “It’s about protecting the institution. William knows the monarchy needs to look forward, not back.”

Of course, not everyone is cheering this decision. Meghan’s supporters argue she’s been unfairly cast out, her voice silenced just when the royals need new energy. “She’s a global figure,” says one fan. “She could help the monarchy stay relevant in a changing world.” But inside the Palace, wounds from the Sussexes’ explosive interviews, their Netflix deal, and Meghan’s candid revelations remain raw. Forgiveness, it seems, isn’t on the agenda.

For Meghan, it’s another setback in a saga that’s played out across headlines and continents. But if history has taught us anything, it’s that she’s not one to fade quietly. Will she push back? Rewrite the narrative? Or find a new way to make her mark?

One thing’s certain: the royal rollercoaster isn’t slowing down—and Meghan Markle is still very much at the center of the ride. Whether she finds her way back into the royal circle or blazes a new trail entirely, the world will be watching. And as William’s chilling words echo through the palace halls, the message is clear: the monarchy’s future is his to defend, and for now, Meghan’s comeback remains firmly off the table.

ROYAL CHAOS: King Charles extends sweet olive branch to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle

ROYAL CHAOS: King Charles extends sweet olive branch to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle

    King Charles

King Charles has extended an olive branch to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. Tensions between the royals have been mounting since Harry and Meghan’s choice to step back as senior working royals in 2020.

In January 2020, Harry and Meghan declared they were stepping back from the firm to pursue a more independent life in the US. The Duke and Duchess expressed hope at the time to continue supporting his late grandmother, Queen Elizabeth.

The following year in February, it was confirmed that the couple would cease being working members of the Royal Family whilst remaining “much-loved” members of the House of Windsor.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle walking by Famine Memorial on visit to Dublin in 2018

However, relations became strained when the Sussexes discussed their palace experiences with Oprah Winfrey, including claims about alleged racist remarks before Prince Archie’s birth.

In recent years, these tensions have eased slightly after Harry rushed to the UK within hours of learning his father was fighting cancer. The pair have since met several times, most recently last month when they shared tea at Clarence House, as reported by the Mirror.

The publication has now disclosed the King’s heartfelt olive branch to the Sussexes. Like most families, Charles displays photos of his relatives throughout his homes, with one gesture indicating his eagerness to mend bridges with Harry and Meghan.

Photos obtained by the Mirror show that Charles, 76, has deliberately selected to showcase images of the Sussexes across his official Northern Irish residence, Hillsborough Castle, predominantly within the State Drawing Room. However, no photographs of his brother, the disgraced Prince Andrew, are on display.

A source revealed to the Mirror: “Royal Historic Palaces make decisions on what they believe to be appropriate. They are also guided by members of The Royal Family, but the decision over what pictures of the family to use ultimately lies with the King.”

After the King and Harry’s recent encounter, reports suggested the meeting was “distinctly formal,” with the Duke allegedly feeling treated like an “official visitor”. However, a spokesperson for the Duke rejected this, stating: “Recent reporting of The Duke’s view of the tone of the meeting is categorically false.

“The quotes attributed to him are pure invention fed, one can only assume, by sources intent on sabotaging any reconciliation between father and son. Presumably, those same sources have also chosen to disclose that gifts were exchanged.

“While we would have preferred such details to remain private, for the sake of clarity, we can confirm that a framed photograph was handed over; however, the image did not contain the Duke and Duchess.”

Although Hillsborough Castle serves as the official Royal residence in Northern Ireland, Historic Royal Palaces has overseen the estate since April 2014 and welcomes paying visitors. Located merely 20 minutes from Belfast, it has witnessed some of the most significant historical events.

These include the signing of the Anglo-Irish Agreement on November 15 1985, alongside a visit from President George W. Bush in 2003.

Just seven years later, the residence hosted then Prime Minister Gordon Brown, representatives from the Democratic Union Party, Sinn Féin and Irish Taoiseach Brian Cowen to address the Northern Ireland policing crisis.

On September 13 2022, just days following his mother’s passing, King Charles became frustrated whilst at the castle when signing a visitors’ book and realised he’d inscribed the incorrect date. However, matters grew more uncomfortable when his pen began to leak, prompting the King to exclaim: “Oh God, I hate this [pen! ]”.

Loose Women legend Coleen Nolan has said she feels “Like An 18-Year-Old” as she SHARES Honest Details about her love life

    Coleen Nolan

Coleen Nolan has said that she she feels “like an 18-year-old” as she provided a candid love life update on Tuesday’s edition of Loose Women. The TV star, 60, recently parted ways with boyfriend Michael Jones and then just days ago she admitted that she had a ‘brief romance’ with somebody but has now made an even more frank admission.

The former Nolans singer joined anchor Ruth Langsford, and fellow panellists Dame Kelly Holmes and Nadia Sawalha where they were discussing the impact of the menopause. It was then that Coleen revealed that feels like a teenager all over again and is noticing attractive men who walk past her in the street.

    Coleen Nolan

She said: “There’s something happening girls and you have to help me here. My hormones have gone through the roof, I’m like an 18 year old on heat!

“I’m not even joking, [my daughter] Ciara put in the family chat ‘I don’t know what’s up with mum, but she’s on heat. She’s flirting with the guy in the lift!’ We were in the lift and there was this very attractive man in there. I just couldn’t help myself but have a flirt.

“I thought ‘Is this the menopause?!’ because most of my friends lost their libio and it became the last thing on their minds.” But then Nadia chipped in with the suggestion that Coleen might in fact have ‘high levels of testosterone’ and that is the reason she is now noticing men a lot more. But Coleen wondered if this meant she was actually ‘turning’ into man.

The former Dancing On Ice contestant joked: “It’s taking over my life, a guy walks down the street and I go ‘He’s nice’ and I check if he’s got a wedding ring on.” She noted that there was an incident at work the other day where she had been to a business meeting, and the only thing she came away with was that he was divorced and she had giggled her way through the business meeting.

It was then that Ruth warned the men in the live studio audience to ‘watch out’ since Coleen was clearly in pursuit of a man.

Coleen Nolan, 60, shocks Loose Women by admitting 'I'm like an 18 year old on heat' after split from boyfriend | The Sun

Later on, when the panellists were discussing long marriages, Coleen quipped: “I’m just looking for someone for six minutes!” Despite her open nature today, Coleen recently had a chat with Christine Lampard on the Loose Women podcast, and she was initially quite coy when speaking about the latest updates in her personal life.

She said: “There’s nothing to report. I had a slight romance with somebody.” Christine interjected and asked whether it was just a “fling”, to which Coleen replied: “Yeah, a bit of a fling, and it was lovely, but it wasn’t the right person.”

Shedding further light on her dating life, Coleen joked that there was little chance of her finding love again anytime soon, adding: “At this point, I think I’ve probably (got) more chance with going on a date with one of the goats.”

Coleen has been married twice before her relationship with Michael Jones. The singer’s first marriage was to EastEnders legend Shane Richie, which lasting nine years after they tied the knot in 1990. They share two sons, Jake and Shane.

Following their split, she later found love again with actor Ray Fensome whom she had one daughter with before they called an end to their marriage in 2018.

UNBELIEVABLE: Corrie’s Lucy-Jo Hudson ‘Did The Worst Thing’ after Putting CHILDREN IN DANGER

    Chào buổi sáng nước Anh

Coronation Street star Lucy Jo-Hudson almost broke down in tears as she realised she’d ‘done the worst thing’ for her children by putting them on social media.

The actress, 42, who played tragic teenager Katy Harris on the ITV soap in the mid-2000s, has a daughter with her former co-star Alan Halsall, and a son with her current partner, but hadn’t realised the dangers of plastering her family life all over Instagram.

    Lucy Jo-Hudson

Lucy-Jo teamed up with Good Morning Britain and security expert Jake Moore to conduct an experiment on her social media activity, where they were able to work out where she lives, who she banks with and where her children go to school all by looking at her profile.

The TV star thought she had taken all the right steps to protect her identity but was shocked to discover that AI can be used to unblur something like a logo on school uniform. Struggling to keep it together, she said: “I mean, I felt like I covered my tracks as well. I never put the kids’ school uniforms on. I never really take pictures outside the school. It’s always away from there. And I blur everything, or I cover the logo on the jumper.

“And I’m quite conscious of what are the images that I put out. And I’ll always ask my daughter. She’s 12 now, so I always get consent that she’s happy for me to put anything up there or not. But then Jake found absolutely everything.

    Phố Coronation

“And I think it just knocked me for six, and that was where it. I got emotional just because you want to protect your kids, don’t you? So, and I felt like I’d done the worst thing.”

The former Hollyoaks actress thought she was ‘conscious’ before she found all this out but then decided to delete a whole load of content from her platforms, and has just learned to be more ‘aware’ of the whole thing to start with.

I mean, I thought I was conscious before all this, and now I’m like literally before when we spoke last week and we were going through it all, I was like delete, delete, I just deleted a load of stuff.

“So I am gonna think a hell of a lot more of what I put out there and things that I think are innocent, the only thing I do showcase is the kids’ birthdays, because you wanna celebrate it, but actually looking at just that little detail is so big to anybody that wants to hack into anything, they’ve got that, they’ve go the information, so.

“I’m going to be a lot more aware of what I’m doing. All of it. I mean, I think it started off with a house and the mortgage, and it just kept going on, and my email address, and my partner’s number, and passwords. And then I think what got me was the kids’ schools, because I’ve never shared that on social media ever.”

Susanna Reid has clashed with Nadine Dorries on Wednesday’s edition of Good Morning Britain over in a debate over Lucy Connolly. The journalist, 54, was back in her usual slot hosting the ITV breakfast show alongside Ed Balls when they were joined by Nadine. 68, to chat about her time moving over to the Reform party.

Susanna instantly brought up the topic of Lucy, a woman jailed after being charged with inciting racial hatred over a tweet she posted on the day of the Southport stabbings in July 2023. Lucy has since been released from prison and appeared at the Reform party conference.

When asked about this, Nadine said: “I don’t call her a convicted criminal! It’s a new party, well Reform is the same thing Nigel has been saying for 30 years, banging the same drum, didn’t decide on a policy because it wanted to win votes and I felt a relief to be in a party with other people who share those views.”

The two began talking over each other and Nadine hit back: “Absolutely not! In the case of Lucy Connolly, if you want to talk about that we can, but I think we’ll use up all our time-” Then Susanna interrupted again to say “No, specifically Lucy Connolly…”

But Nadine would not back down, even when Ed Balls weighed in on the topic, and she said: “I felt what we saw with Lucy Connolly was a severe reaction to a woman who took down a tweet, and we’ve all posted, Ed, tweets, that we shouldn’t have done. It was in the aftermath of an attack where young girls had been murdered.”

Ed continued to bring up the subject, and Nadine said: “I’m not sure what the purpose of this is..”

She then explained: “I don’t brush off people who have been incited in courts of law. But I think there was a whole issue at the time, this was a long time ago now, of two-tier policing. Lucy Connolly was made an example of, I think the time she spent in prison was extraordinarily long for what she’d done, the tweet she’d deleted.

“I think it’s unfair she was singled out in that way. There was plenty of stuff on social media in that day.”

Lucy served 10 months of her 31 month sentence after writing “set fire to all the f*****g hotels full of the b***** for all I care” on social media. Susanna asked Nadine if she was ‘happy’ to be on stage with a convicted criminal.

Nadine added: “If we’re going to put someone in prison for putting a tweet out, what I want to see is equality and fairness and meritocracy. What I don’t want to see are individuals targeted, teams of thought police knocking on doors.

“I don’t wanna see young mothers as the person who is chosen. I’d like everybody who incited racial hatred on that day to be behind bars, but that isn’t the case. One woman was.”
