Strictly Heartbreak: Star Reveals Karen Carney’s Secret Health Battle — ‘There’s Not Much That Can Be Done’

Karen has a spine condition that’s she shared details of last week

Former Strictly Come Dancing star Vincent Simone has issued some upsetting news over Karen Carney’s health condition following Motsi Mabuse’s comments.

Last weekend, judge Motsi came under fire with viewers after telling Karen she needed to “challenge” her health condition to see how far they can take her dancing.

Karen had just opened up on having a condition called Scheuermann’s, a spinal health issue that makes it hard for her to open her back up. And now, Vincent has revealed what he would do to help her.

What did Motsi say to Karen?

Karen opened up about her health condition, revealing the curve in her spine would mean there are parts she “won’t be able to do as well”.

When receiving her feedback, Motsi comments shocked some viewers. The judge said: “First of all, thank you for sharing with us about your curved spine. It is going to be something that we have to challenge to see how far we can stretch and open because it is a ballroom dance and a specific posture that we need.”

Fans weren’t happy that Motsi told Karen to “challenge” her condition, instead of finding ways to accommodate it.

One fan wrote: “Criticising someone for something they can’t do anything about is beyond ridiculous!”

    Karen needs ‘clever choreography’

Speaking on behalf of Paddy Power, Vincent exclusively told ED! that there are ways to help hide Karen’s condition.

He admited that he was “impressed” by Karen’s dance and really enjoyed her “fast and powerful spins”. But he agreed that she needed a long spine and neck look.

He told ED!: “Unfortunately, for her to get that long spine and long neck look, it’s not going to be a walk in the park. The team needs to be very clever to try and cover that within the choreography.

“In ballroom, you do need that long spine and long neck. That’s part of the elegance of the dance.”

However, initially, Vincent wasn’t aware of Karen’s condition. And while he doesn’t think there’s much that can help, he believes she can disguise it within her dances.

Vincent explained: “I didn’t know she had a spine condition, which obviously explains why she doesn’t have that long neck the judges were talking about. There’s not much that can be done about that. But there ways to disguise it.

“For example, when I teach ballroom, I will tell my students to lift the spine up and then curve slightly to the left to create that bigger shape at the top. For someone like Karen, you could play with that shape to make it work. I think with clever choreography, it could be covered beautifully.”

Michelle Dewberry lists out the councillors defecting from the Tories to Reform UK |

Reform UK is going into the fresh round of by-elections with more than 900 councillors under its belt

Reform UK will be looking to build on its momentum as it battles it out in seven by-elections tomorrow.

It comes after Nigel Farage’s party welcomed more than a dozen Conservative councillors to its ranks on Tuesday morning, extending its total headcount to 900.

Reform will be looking to add to that number at this week’s by-elections.

But with six chances for seats to turn turquoise on the horizon – and one it will seek to defend – which one could be the biggest win for the party?

    Yateley West, Hampshire

A by-election is taking place in the Yateley West ward in Hampshire following the resignation of Liberal Democrat Councillor Mark Vernon in August.

There are three candidates battling to take the seat, including Clive Lawrance for Reform UK.

The full list of candidates are:

    Alex Drage – Lib Dem
    Clive Lawrance – Reform Uk
    Sandra Miller – Conservatives

    Bretforton & Offenham, Worcestershire

A Tory seat is meanwhile up for grabs in the Bretforton & Offenham ward in the Wychavon District, Worcestershire.

Matthew Winfield, standing up Reform, is battling it out against against six other candidates in the polls.

In his campaign material, Mr Winfield said: “I love this country and our area, but I’m deeply concerned about its future.

“We have seen on a local and national level the scale of damage done by the Conservatives, Labour and Lib Dems.

“We are worse off and more divided than ever. Only Reform UK will stand up for your local priorities.

“We need someone at the council who supports the needs of local people, works to build a stronger, greener, local economy, and upholds our community’s values.

“I’ve been proud to call the Vale my home for 30 years, and I’d be honoured to serve the people of Bretforton and Offenham.”

The full list of candidates are:

    Matthew Winfield – Reform
    Mary Jane Smith – Conservatives
    Rob Robinson – Independent
    Matt Jones – Lib Dem
    Joe Davin – Independent
    Marino Cretu – Green
    Amanda Sara Capewell – Labour

Bretforton & Offenham Reform candidate Matthew Winfield said he would be ‘honoured’ to serve as councillor for the area

    Lloyds & Corby Village, Northamptonshire

All eyes will be on Nigel Farage’s party as it looks to keep its seat in the Lloyds & Corby Village ward in Northamptonshire.

Reform Councillor Robert Bloom held one of two seats in the ward prior to his resignation in August.

Whichever candidate sees success in Thursday’s by-election will join Labour Councillor Mark Pengelly.

The full list of candidates include:

    Lee Duffy – Reform UK
    Paul John Byrne – Conservatives
    Geri Cullen – Labour
    Lee Forster – Green
    Alex Lock – Lib Dem

    Aughton & Holborn, West Lancashire

Reform candidate Aaron Body will seek to fend off five other candidates in the Aughton & Holborn ward by-election in West Lancashire, following the resignation of Labour Councillor Kerry Lloyd.

In his campaign material, Mr Body said the area was “close to my heart”.

“I am the Branch Chairman of Reform UK West Lancashire and I led our successful campaign in May’s Lancashire County Council (LCC) elections,” a statement from the candidate read.

“Now we have a chance to build on that win and forge a strong working relationship with LCC, tackling local issues head-on.

“Reform UK brings a fresh, common-sense approach to local politics that puts residents first. Only Reform UK will stand up for your local priorities.”

    The candidates are:

    Aaron Body – Reform
Peter John Chandler – Lib Dem
    Charlotte Marian Houltram – Green
Gordon Paul Johnson – Our West Lancashire
    Bruce Porteous – Conservatives
    Karl Christopher Taraldsen – Labour

    Kenn Valley, Devon

Reform UK will be looking to fill a vacant seat in Kenn Valley under Teignbridge District Council.

There are a total of seven candidates looking to taking home the win.

This includes Terry Tume, a long-standing resident of the area standing for Reform.

“If you vote for Terry Tume in the Kenn Valley By-election on October 9, Reform UK can bring Common Sense to Teignbridge District Council,” Mr Trume wrote in a post to Facebook.

“It’s time to have your interests represented in your council.”

The full list of candidates are:

    Terry Tume – Reform
    Lucille Baker – Conservative
    Niall Duffy – Labour
    Kevin Lake – Independent
    Kevin Smith – Lib Dem
    Dudley Henry Swain – Independent
    Scott Adrian Williams – Green

    Skelton East, North Yorkshire

Following the resignation of Conservative Councillor Andy Oliver, a seat is up for grabs in the Skelton East ward under Redcar and Cleveland Council in North Yorkshire.

And it will be Craig Peter Holmes who will look to see success for Reform in the polls.

    The full candidates are:

    Julie Craig – Conservative
    Craig Peter Holmes – Reform
    Norman MacLeod – Labour
Stuart Gilbert Saunders – Lib Dem

    Widcombe & Lyncombe, Bath

Following the resignation of Lib Dem Councillor Deborah Collin, a by-election is being held in the Widcombe & Lyncombe ward in Bath, Somerset.

Reform UK has put forward Aaron Scott to run for the seat.

    The candidates include:

    Aaron Scott – Reform
    Madeline Blackburn – Independent
Stuart Pieter Bridge – Lib Dem
    Matt Corner – Conservatives
    Neil Howard – Green
Casey Bernard Bailey Nolan – Independent

  • BREAKING: Vincent Simone Furious Over Strictly Results Twist Fans Are Calling “The Final Straw”

BREAKING: Vincent Simone Furious Over Strictly Results Twist Fans Are Calling “The Final Straw”

Former Strictly star Vincent Simone has exclusively spoken out after viewers were left unimpressed with changes to its results show.

The 2025 series is in full swing and Movie Week is just around the corner. Last weekend, Thomas Skinner and Amy Dowden were the first couple booted off.

While many were left divided over the result, they were also distracted by the show’s new format.

Strictly viewers react to ‘new format’ following first results show

On Sunday night’s results show, there was a bit of a Strictly shake-up. Usually, host Tess Daly would tell one couple they were in the bottom two mid-way through the results show, and the other just before the dance-off.

This weekend, however, she let two groups of couples know they were safe, before introducing guest singer Zara Larsson and leaving four couples with another agonising wait. It was only after Zara performed that Tess let the remaining four couples – who Dianne and Stefan, Karen and Harry, Chris and Nadiya and Thomas and Amy – know their fate.

After viewers found out that Thomas and Amy and Nadiya and Chris had landed themselves in the bottom two, they expected Dianne and Stefan and Karen and Harry to return upstairs for an interview with host Claudia Winkleman. Except that didn’t happen.

Fans also noticed that the entrance music and tense song played during the show’s elimination process is not the same. After 23 series, the Strictly’s format has felt like a tradition for viewers. So naturally, they reacted online with disappointment.

“I feel sorry for the last two safe contestants who don’t get to speak in the Clauditorium and the music is weird,” one user wrote. “One thing I didn’t like was not hearing from the last two that got through,” another shared.

“Is it me or is the new format of the results show awful,” a third said. “Farewell old tension music much missed,” a fourth expressed.

Just watched the result show, the new format is stupid, can production stop change the traditional things? First entrance music, now two more couples can not get interview? What’s your problem? This show already losing vibes and production pushing it,” a fifth wrote.

It puts more pressure on the couples’

Following the complaints, Vincent shared his opinion exclusively with ED!.

“Things need to evolve – shows, people, everything,” he said, on behalf of Paddy Power Games.

“I did like it this year, I liked that it was a bit different and left the couples waiting longer. It made it more interesting, even though it might be a bit more upsetting for them.”

Vincent insisted that the “only negative” is when the call out order for who is safe is “random”.

He added: “If you’re not called early on, it can be nerve-wracking waiting there, wondering if you’re safe. But on the other hand, it can push people to work even harder the following week.”

“From a viewer’s perspective, I think it’s a good change. It puts more pressure on the couples and adds to the excitement. When you’re down to the last few waiting, it really gets the audience going.”

SAD NEWS: Strictly’s Ellie Goldstein forced to quit show for a reason that left fans stunned

Ellie Goldstein is the first contestant with Down’s Syndrome to ever appear on Strictly Come Dancing, but it’s not the first time the 23-year-old has made history – and it doesn’t look like it will be the last.

When she was born in December 2001, doctors told her parents she wold never be able to walk or talk. Her mum Yvonne says a nurse even suggested she might want to leave her newborn baby at the hospital.

Though she initially struggled with the diagnosis and was scared to bond with her daughter – who also underwent 10-hour surgery when she was five months old to close holes in her heart – Ellie has gone on to defy expectations ever since.

She’s now a top model who has appeared on the cover of Vogue, bought her own house in Essex and published a book about her life, called Against All Odds. And two years after saying appearing on Strictly would be her dream as her “absolute favourite thing in the world is dancing”, she’s achieved that too.

Describing how Ellie overcame the odds, mum Yvonne told the BBC: “After three weeks, we were able to take her home and her cheeky and determined personality began to shine through. My husband and I decided to bring her up as Ellie first and put the fact that she has got Down’s syndrome to one side.

“Despite what the doctors said, she could walk by 18 months, was speaking by her third birthday and was able to read by the time she started school. Ellie stayed in mainstream education until it came to doing her exams and we moved her to a specialist school.”

Yvonne said her brave daughter proved the doctors wrong

But it wasn’t until she was a teenager that they decided to tell Ellie she had Down’s syndrome. Yvonne explained: “We were nervous about her reaction and showed her a special book, but she kept saying, ‘I don’t look like that. I’m me.’ I was worried it would knock her confidence, but it didn’t.”

So when a friend told Yvonne about a talent agency called Zebedee that wanted to work with people with disabilities and visible differences, she decided to apply for Ellie.

This led to Ellie being picked to star in Superdrug’s Christmas advert back in 2018 – and launched her career as a model.

Though Ellie recently bought her own home with the proceeds from her modelling jobs, Yvonne said the family live alongside her, as they still don’t know if she will ever be able to live alone. Though they have kept their family home and are trying to encourage Ellie to be as independent as possible.

She added: “We have to prepare her for how she will cope one day when we’re not around. Her older sister Amy will obviously look out for her, but we would never put that full responsibility on her.

“I hope attitudes towards Down’s syndrome have changed since Ellie was born, but there is still a lot of ignorance. Often in the street, people ask me questions about Ellie and don’t address her. They don’t realise she can talk and how big a personality she has.”

Coronation Street fans revealed they were left emotional by Monday’s (September 6) episode, which saw Asha Alahan (played by Tanisha Gorey) reach the breaking point and finally open up about her mental health issues after a failed suicide attempt. The paramedic was rushed to the hospital after she was found unconscious on a park bench after consuming a poisonous cocktail, which she had downed with alcohol. While her father Dev (Jimmi Harkishin) insists the incident was a mistake, Asha finally opened up to her dad and revealed that the pressures of her job had been weighing heavily on her mind.

She confirmed that she tried to take her own life after also dealing with racism in the workplace. Many viewers flocked to social media to share their thoughts about the moving episode as one reflected: “Asha’s storyline in #Corrie is close to home. That was me 28 years ago.” A second added: “Asha opening up is a big thing. It’s one of the first steps to getting the support she so needs. Hopefully, this gets people speaking up about mental health.”

“Stepping into the shoes of a trainee paramedic and exploring the highs, lows, and emotional challenges of their work has been both moving and eye-opening.

“It’s a role that carries a huge responsibility, and I hope we’ve done justice to the reality so many face. If this story reaches even one person, sparks a conversation, or offers a moment of understanding, then it’s served its purpose.”

‘HEARTBREAKING SCENES!’ — BBC Breakfast OPENS With ‘Traumatic’ News as Guest Breaks Down On Air… K

BBC Breakfast stars Jon Kay and Sally Nugent shared a devastating update on Tuesday morning

A BBC Breakfast star opened Tuesday’s (October 7) show with “traumatic” news as a guest admitted, “I’m afraid”.

During today’s edition of the hit morning programme, hosts Jon Kay and Sally Nugent updated viewers on the latest news from across the UK and around the world.

They were joined in the studio by Ben Thompson, who presented the sports segment, while Carol Kirkwood delivered regular weather forecasts.

Elsewhere in the show, Jon revealed: “It’s exactly two years today since the October 7th attacks when Hamas surged from Gaza into Israel, killing around 1,200 people – most of them civilians. 251 hostages were also taken.”

Sally added: “The attack prompted a fierce military response from Israel, which has so far killed more than 67,000 people, according to the Hamas-run health authority.

“Peace talks involving the two sides are currently taking place in Egypt.”

The BBC’s Middle East correspondent Yolande Knell then reported on the ongoing “trauma” of the attacks and its consequences.

In the emotional footage, the presenter explained: “Time stands still in Kibbutz Be’eri. Homes ransacked and burnt out are reminders of the 102 lives lost here. Exactly two years on from the Hamas attacks, the trauma lives on.”

She went on: “More people were killed in Be’eri than any other kibbutz, and the grief and pain two years on is still very raw. Many of the houses still look like this. And people say they can’t rebuild their lives until there’s a full ceasefire and all of the hostages are brought back.

“So far, Israel’s bombing hasn’t stopped in Gaza, despite an order from President Trump. And the Strip’s already devastated… The war has seemed endless.”

Gaza resident Enaam al-Wahidi, who was forced to flee Gaza City with her family, admitted: “We expected that it would be one month, two months, three months. But two years, it’s a very long time.

“Every second, we look at the news [to see] what happened. I’m afraid that this ceasefire is not completed and the war will come back to us.”

Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer has urged students not to join pro-Palestinian protests on the October 7th anniversary today, warning of “rising antisemitism on our streets”.

Sir Keir said it was “un-British” to hold protests on the anniversary which, he said, had been used by some as a “despicable excuse to attack British Jews”.

The stars of Strictly Come Dancing are facing the second dance off this week – and the stress of the competition is already running high.

George Clarke has revealed that he was rushed to a physiotherapist last week after injuring his back in rehearsals last week. The influencer opened up about hurting his back on his podcast, The Useless Hotline Podcast – inviting on Strictly professional dance partner Alexis Warr for the first time.

The 25-year-old wowed the judges and the public with his impressive Paso Doble on Saturday, receiving a score of 30. He landed in third place on the leaderboard for weeks one and two, closely following Lewis Cope and Amber Davies who took second and first place respectively.

Despite storming the scoreboard, George revealed on his podcast that he was given less time to rehearse for his Paso Doble after needing physio for a back injury he sustained in rehearsal.

He added: “I had a pinched nerve all week in my back. I had acupuncture half way through the week. I went to physio four times.” As for how he did it, George admitted that the injury happened after a handstand went wrong.

“I was like, ‘I’ll throw in a handstand or something.’ I like doing a handstand, if I keep my legs together I’d probably be better at it but it doesn’t feel fun when you do it that way,” he said.

“I did that and got up and went, ‘My back hurts a little bit actually. Ah s**t, I’ve got a little twinge in there somehow. I’ll try to carry on.’”

Will said that after they took a lunch break, he was unable to return to training and “went straight to physio” instead. “I went to physio the next morning as well. Danced for a bit, sat down,” he said.

Meanwhile, Alexis said that it’s the ‘most frustrated’ she had seen George, with him adding: “Monday is when they throw a load of information at you and then it’s Terrible Tuesday because you’re trying to figure it out.” Not only was he behind with training, but George hade to keep halting rehearsal because of his back pain.

“It would get to the point where I’m getting it then I had to sit down because my back was hurting,” he said.

Earlier this week, George revealed what taking part in the competition really means to him, writing on Instagram: “Probably [a] good time to continue being serious and thank everyone for their unbelievable support so far.

“Whether you’re old or new (here, not just in general) I really appreciate the comments, the messages and obviously the votes!”

FINAL VERDICT: Myleene Klass’s stalker found guilty after chilling act with air 𝘨𝘶𝘯

Myleene Klass breaks down in tears on Loose Women after best pal Lauren Laverne reveals cancer diagnosis | The Sun

A 61-year-old man has been found guilty of stalking Loose Women star Myleene Klass by posting to her an air pistol, handcuffs, a police uniform and “disturbing” unwanted letters. Jurors also convicted Peter Windsor of stalking Klass’s Classic FM colleague Katie Breathwick by sending her details of a DIY will-writing kit and other “raving” and “unhinged” mail.

Klass told Birmingham Crown Court last week how she felt “sheer terror” after being sent items by Windsor, who has been diagnosed with schizophrenia and claimed to be not guilty by reason of insanity. Windsor, of Mary Road, Stechford, Birmingham, had denied stalking both Klass and Breathwick by sending items to Classic FM’s central London studios between March 2020 and August 2024.

Jurors reached their unanimous guilty verdicts on Tuesday after deliberating for four hours and eight minutes over two days. Windsor, wearing a grey sweatshirt, sighed and pursed his lips in the dock as the verdicts were announced.

Judge Tom Rochford told Windsor, who has been on remand throughout his trial, that the options for his sentencing next month include prison or two types of hospital order.

In her evidence to the court, Breathwick told jurors she was left terrified by Windsor, who also sent her numerous hand-written notes, binoculars, perfume and running shoes.

She told the trial that she informed Klass of around 100 notes and gifts because she felt her colleague needed to be aware of a situation that might put her at risk.

    Stalker

Windsor sent a note calling Klass a “naughty vixen”, and mailed Breathwick a letter saying he wanted to go paddling in a lake with both women while drinking champagne, the court heard.

It emerged during the trial that Windsor was arrested but not prosecuted after sending a letter in October 2020 to then-Scottish first minister Nicola Sturgeon which he said had been “signed in blood” and which “pledged his soul to Satan”.

He told jurors the letter was “just a joke” and that he had sent parcels and letter to the radio presenters as a “pretend weird” acting performance.

Both complainants became upset during the evidence, with Klass telling the court how Royal Mail had found an air pistol addressed to her.

The 47-year-old former Hear’Say singer said “it just felt extreme on every front” after she was informed in August last year by her employer’s security staff about packages sent by Windsor.

Invited to describe her feelings when she was informed by a police constable in September last year that an air 𝘨𝘶𝘯 had been intercepted, Ms Klass told the court: “He said to me that whilst the 𝘨𝘶𝘯 wasn’t necessary for a licence in this country, at such close proximity right up to 6ft it could prove fatal and police took it very seriously. I was extremely shocked because suddenly it felt extremely real. It’s a 𝘨𝘶𝘯 in a box with my name on it.”

Adjourning the case until sentencing at Warwick Crown Court, Judge Rochford said the offences had “clearly been a traumatic experience” for both complainants.

He told jurors: “You have heard that the defendant is a man of good character. I need to make arrangements for sentencing the defendant. The options that I have include a prison sentence but I also have options to impose a hospital order.”

He told the panel that convicted Windsor: “It’s been a slightly unusual trial from the lawyers’ point of view. Thank you for the care and attention you have given to this case.”

In his closing speech to the jury on Monday, defence barrister Philip Brunt said Windsor had been diagnosed for the past 30 years with paranoid schizophrenia and had included his name and address in the correspondence.

Windsor, who has used multiple names including Peter Szymanski and changed his surname to its current form by deed poll, had not followed anyone and was not told by anyone to stop sending letters, Mr Brunt added.

Heartbreaking:Prince Harry publicly drags Princess Kate and Prince William into legal fight amid Royal Family feud

Prince Harry has publicly dragged Princess Kate and Prince William into his legal fight against the Daily Mail publisher, amid their royal feud.

The Duke of Sussex has claimed private investigators spied on the Prince of Wales, according to new details submitted to the High Court.

Lawyers for the Duke produced invoices allegedly showing surveillance around William’s 21st birthday party and phone data linked to Catherine Middleton, the Princess of Wales’s maiden name.

The filings risk inflaming tensions within the Royal Family as Harry pursues his case against Associated Newspapers.

One invoice from 2003 refers to a payment for information about Prince William’s Out of Africa-themed 21st birthday party.

Another mentions mobile phone data belonging to Catherine Middleton, now the Princess of Wales, while separate searches were carried out on the Middleton family home.

A further record listed 10 numbers from a “family and friends” list, in which Kate’s was highlighted.

The evidence was submitted to the High Court on Wednesday as part of Harry’s ongoing case against Associated Newspapers.

It comes weeks after the Duke of Sussex reunited with the King for the first time in 19 months during a private meeting at Clarence House.

The Duke of Sussex is among seven individuals taking legal action against Associated Newspapers over alleged privacy violations spanning three decades.

The publisher, which owns the Mail on Sunday and MailOnline, rejects the allegations and has described them as “lurid” and unfounded.

Harry’s legal team said the material relating to Prince William’s 21st birthday was found within five boxes of invoices described as “highly significant”, which were only handed over last week.

His barrister, David Sherborne, told the High Court that the documents had not yet been fully reviewed, but appeared “highly relevant” to the wider case.

One invoice, linked to private investigator Christine Hart, was highlighted in particular.

It records a payment of £350 to Hart’s company Warner, dated 25 August 2003, and is headed: “Out of Africa Story Royal Party Enqs”.

The mention of the Princess of Wales is included in proposed updates to the lawsuit.

High-profile figures including Prince Harry, Sir Elton John and Elizabeth Hurley have joined together to bring legal action against Associated Newspaper Limited

Associated is pushing to narrow the case, insisting that certain aspects — including references to the Duke’s past litigation with other newspaper groups, which Mr Justice Nicklin has already ruled inadmissible — should be removed. The trial is due to begin in January.

The new references to Prince William and Princess Kate appear in paperwork filed for a two-day case management hearing.

Actress Sadie Frost and filmmaker David Furnish attended the hearing in person, while other claimants joined remotely.

At one point, Prince Harry used the video system to send a message to Baroness Lawrence after her microphone picked up a conversation. “Doreen, please mute your phone,” he said.
