Patrick Christys lambasts Labour's 'draconian' rules as guest warns laws will 'encroach on family life'

The presenter slammed Sir Keir Starmer’s party as he hit out at the Government’s latest move in a bid to tackle obesity rates

Patrick Christys has lambasted Labour’s latest “draconian” law that has banned free refills of Coca-Cola.

Speaking on Patrick Christys Tonight, the GB News star laid into the rule, dubbing it “as part of a bigger issue” across society.

Hitting out at Labour’s push for ID cards and facial recognition, Patrick fumed: “Obviously, we’re coming off the back of the ridiculous, some of the ridiculous lockdown laws that we had there. Very draconian stuff all the time.”

He added that it was much more than being restricted to one glass of full-fat Coke and that “we’re heading into a type of society that I don’t particularly like”.

The presenter slammed Sir Keir Starmer’s party as he hit out at his Government’s latest move

“I’ve just got one eye on the future, and I’m slightly concerned that we’re going to end up walking around supermarkets with a shopping basket that’s like counting on calories for us and putting limits on what things we can and can’t get,” he added.

Labour has fallen under fire over the past week as Nando’s customers have found themselves being restricted to one glass of the sugar-filled Coca-Cola.

The regulations came into force last Wednesday, launched in the hopes that the new rules will reduce the nation’s skyrocketing obesity rates.

Meanwhile, sugar-free options are not subject to the same regulations, which allow them to remain unlimited.

“I do just remember Keir Starmer standing on the steps of Downing Street after he won the election, saying this is going to be a Government that that treads more lightly on our lives. And then and then bingo, there goes your full fat Coke,” Patrick quipped.

Speaking to the People’s Channel, historian and political commentator Dr Philip Kiszely weighed in, declaring: “No, I don’t like it at all. I think you’re absolutely right, Patrick.

“I think there’s something else as well,” Dr Kiszely speculated, mentioning the Government’s “obsession with free school breakfasts”.

“Okay, this is the government encroaching on the territory of the family, right? And again, it comes back down to education again. It comes back down to culture. Your one role, your main role.

“The first thing you should do when you wake up in the morning is feed your children. If you don’t do anything else, you feed your children.”

FANS OUTRAGED: Kate Bottley Apologizes For “Lying” To Viewers And Reveals Shocking Gogglebox Contract After Quitting

“I’m SORRY for LYING to the viewers” – Kate Bottley reflects on herself and Drops a B0mbshell about her Sh0cking Gogglebox Contract after QUITTING, leaving UK TV audiences stunned!

Radio 2 presenter the Rev Kate Bottley has revealed she had to quit Gogglebox because the TV show was damaging her family’s home life – while being tied to it also started costing her money.

Bottley, who proved a hit on the show, said although she left with an excuse which led viewers to believe it was a temporary departure, she had no intention of returning.

Unaware how taking part would ‘take over our lives’, Bottley agreed to do the show to try and change the public perception of people of faith – but she said it ended up ‘c0nsensual expl0itation’.

She said her son Arthur, who she described as on the ‘aut1stic sp3ctrum’, and daughter Ruby, then at school, missed out on help with their homework and visits from their friends, as they stayed in their rooms while a large crew were in their home.

Family meal times were also disrupted, while she and husband’s differing personalities led to public trolling.

Bottley was first approached by Channel 4 to appear on the show – where people are filmed giving their opinions on TV programmes – as a result of a viral video of a wedding she officiated at in 2013, where she danced to Kool & the Gang’s ‘Celebration’.

Unaware how taking part would ‘take over our lives’, Bottley agreed to do the show to try and change the public perception of people of faith – but she said it ended up ‘c0nsensual expl0itation’

It had more than eight million YouTube views and landed her and husband Graham a Gogglebox contract the following year – with them going on to appear in five series up to 2016.

She said she joined the show to try and change the public perception of people of faith because she felt that whenever they were seen on TV it was in bad news stories or they were deemed as ‘weirdos’.

Bottley said: ‘I wish I’d known how much it took over our life for two and a half years.

    ‘It’s reality TV, it’s by its nature c0nsensual expl0itation.

‘So they come into your home. They’re filming in your home – it was quite intrusive really. But we consented to that intrusion, but I didn’t fully know just how. My kids spent two-and-a-half years sat in their bedrooms every Tuesday and Thursday night or whatever nights they came to film.

‘My kids didn’t have friends round for a lot (of the time), didn’t have help with their homework. Things like that.

‘And we got paid very little.

‘They paid, but I cooked two nights a week for the crew.

She said her son Arthur, who she described as on the 'autistic spectrum', and daughter Ruby, then at school, missed out on help with their homework and visits from their friends, as they stayed in their rooms while a large crew were in their home

    Do YOU watch Googlebox?

‘I’m married to a man who won’t eat takeaways, and I don’t want to be filmed eating on camera so I was like ‘no, I’ll cook’.

‘There were casseroles and chillis. So all the money we got from it went on the electricity, the internet connection that they were using, and the food and being hospitable to six people in my home two nights a week.

‘It’s a vicarage as well, I should be hospitable. We should be sharing our home to people, and eating food together.

‘It was a good two and a half years but we couldn’t have done any more. It got to the point where we were just a bit overwhelmed.’

As well as finding the modest amount of money she and Graham were paid disappearing, Bottley’s bubbly personality soon saw other more lucrative TV offers which were less intrusive start coming in – but while tied to Gogglebox she was not allowed to do them at the same time.

She said: ‘There’s quite tight exclusivity, and rightly so, because if you’re filming ordinary people sat on their sofa watching TV you can’t then have those people on the TV. It sort of breaks the fourth wall too much.’

Bottley, 50, who has two now grown-up children, said the offers came from well-known popular shows including Would I Lie To You?

She added: ‘I was offered stuff like that but wasn’t able to do it because Gogglebox wouldn’t let you do it.

‘That’s the whole joy of the show because as the viewer you side with the people on the show, because they’re you.

‘But the minute they start being on the telly it’s done. There was stuff coming in that I wanted to have a go at that I just wasn’t able contractually to do.’

While many viewers loved Bottley’s infectious personality, others criticised her for overshadowing her husband.

Speaking on the Walking the Dog podcast, she said: ‘We used to get that whole ‘Oh, you never let your husband speak’. It was like ‘Wow’. Be careful there, your misogyny’s showing

‘Of course if you’re a confident woman married to a quieter man he must be henpecked, and he must be bossed about – it’s not that he’s just naturally quieter.

‘In any relationship there’s someone that is more outgoing.’

Kate said being someone who was used to speaking in front of many people was bound to make her feel more comfortable speaking on TV.

Eventually, the family came up with an excuse for what was regarded as a break from the series, while not revealing they did not plan to return.

Kate said: ‘It so happened that it came around the time that Ruby was doing her GCSEs so the excuse we gave was ‘we’re going to take some time away while she does her exams’.’

However, Kate said Googlebox did serve to raise her public profile.

She became a series regular on Songs of Praise, before going on to appear on other TV shows and become a familiar voice on BBC radio stations, while Graham returned to his music teaching job.

Strictly star George Clarke overtakes Lewis Cope as new favourite to win

‘He’s looking like the one to beat’

Following this weekend’s first Strictly elimination, it seems there is a new favourite to win – and it’s good news for George Clarke. However, not so much for Lewis Cope, who previously faced backlash from viewers due to his performing background.

Last night (October 5), Amy Dowden and Thomas Skinner were announced as the first couple voted off. They faced the bottom two alongside Chris Robshaw and Nadiya Bychkova.

As the competition gets tighter, more dark horses continue to emerge. Previously, former Emmerdale actor Lewis Cope was an immediate frontrunner and favourite to win.

However, according to bookies at SportsCasting, he has been replaced.

Strictly star George Clarke favourite to win

After performing a paso doble and topping the leaderboard, social media personality George Clarke and Alexis Warr are favourite to win with odds of 6/4.

“George Clarke continues to tighten his grip on favouritism after another strong performance. His powerful Paso Doble to ‘Game of Survival’ scored 30 with the judges and helped shorten his odds even further to 6/4. He’s looking like the one to beat,” Shane Orton exclusively told ED!

Vicky Pattison and Kai Widdrington are currently in second place (4/1). Meanwhile, Lewis Cope has slipped to third (9/2).

“Ellie Goldstein also had a bounce-back week with a touching waltz to Your Song by Ellie Goulding. It wasn’t just about the score but the routine tugged at the heartstrings of the nation and saw her backed into 14/1 as public support poured in,” Shane continued.

“Elsewhere, Vicky Pattison (4/1), Lewis Cope (9/2), and Karen Carney (6/1) remain firmly in the mix after solid outings, while Amber Davies impressed again with a lively samba to ‘Bam Bam’ keeping her well in contention at 10/1.”

    Huge blow for Ross King

On the flip side, it’s bad news for Lorraine Hollywood reporter Ross King, who is the current favourite to leave this Sunday (October 12) with odds of 6/4.

“Chris Robshaw is close behind at 7/4 following his dance-off appearance. Stefan Dennis remains in danger at 6/1. With all three yet to find their stride on the leaderboard, they’ll need a strong public vote to stay in the running,” Shane said.

“Tom Skinner and Amy Dowden bowed out of the competition in emotional fashion on Sunday night after losing the judges’ vote to Chris Robshaw and Nadiya Bychkova. Despite Tom’s struggles with public support, many viewers were saddened to see Amy leave, with the pair’s exit prompting an outpouring of affection for the much-loved professional dancer.”

Shadow Chancellor Mel Stride unveiled proposals for reducing Government expenditure by £47billion when he addressed delegates

Watch the moment GB News stars Tom Harwood and Olivia Utley struggle to contain their laughter as they discuss the Conservatives’ latest “policy blitz” at its party conference.

Tom admitted the pair had been debating what “big thing” was actually cutting through, before concluding that few people in the country seem willing to “give the Conservative Party a hearing”.

The comments come after Shadow Chancellor Mel Stride unveiled proposals for reducing Government expenditure by £47billion when he addressed delegates.

The plans include £23billion in welfare reductions, with changes to support for those experiencing minor mental health issues and restrictions preventing non-UK nationals from accessing benefits.

Olivia Utley struggled contain her laughter as she discussed the conference

Additional savings would come from reducing the civil service workforce by approximately 25 per cent, yielding £8billion, whilst international development funding would face £7billion in reductions, bringing it to 0.1 per cent of national income.

Olivia Utley said: “Well, absolutely. Tom, the Conservatives have been on a policy blitz over the last couple of days and this is set to continue.”

A laughing Tom admitted: “We have to come clean. We had a little chat before we had this chat on air and we were like, what should we be talking about?

“What is the big thing that cuts through on this conference? Ultimately, we both kept coming to this conclusion. Is anyone in the country?

“Is anyone out there actually willing to give the Conservative Party a hearing?

Olivia said: “This is the problem for the Conservatives. They’re on this policy blitz. We’ve got Mel Stride out today talking about all of these cuts that he wants to make.

“They are trying to position themselves as the party of sound money. And there is an argument that there is a gap in the market for that.

“We know that Rachel Reeves is spending. We know that in the Budget next month, she is likely to raise taxes, something that she promised she wasn’t going to do at the last election.

“We know that actually Reform, although they are very, very tough on immigration, they’re not a kind of Thatcherite party.”

The proposals also target council housing expenditure, arguing demand would decrease once foreign nationals lose eligibility for social accommodation.

Environmental subsidies for heat pumps and electric vehicles would face cuts, alongside the party’s commitment to abolish climate change legislation.

The Conservatives find themselves in historically dire circumstances, currently polling third behind Reform UK and Labour according to recent YouGov data, with support rarely exceeding 25 per cent throughout the year.

This represents minimal improvement from their devastating electoral defeat in July, marking their worst performance in nearly two centuries of existence.

SAD NEWS: BBC Breakfast halted as Sally Nugent brought viewers some HEARTBREAKING NEWS this morning: “A awful news”.k

BBC Breakfast host, Sally Nugent, had some sad news to share on Monday’s show

BBC Breakfast presenter Sally Nugent delivered some heartbreaking news to viewers on Monday morning.

During the latest episode, Sally, 54, who was hosting the show with Jon Kay, revealed that Lewis Moody has been diagnosed with motor neurone disease (MND).

Sally said: “Now we have some sad news from the world of sport this morning, former England Rugby Union Captain, Lewis Moody, has announced he’s been diagnosed with motor neurone disease.

“In a statement he said the news that he has progressive and incurable condition also known as ALS, had been incredibly hard to process and has come as a huge shock to him and his family.”

After noticing some weakness in his shoulder, Lewis, 47, and his wife, Annie, were given life-changing news.

Speaking in a pre-recorded interview on BBC Breakfast, Lewis explained: “Two weeks ago, I was diagnosed with motor neurone disease.

“I think it’s safe to say it came as a fairly sizable shock to all of us. We’re rightly quite emotional about it.

“But it’s just so strange because I feel like nothing’s wrong, you know? I don’t feel ill, I don’t feel unwell. So yeah, a strange position to be in. We’ve processed lots of emotions over the last couple of weeks.

“It’s never me that I feel sad for, it’s the sadness around having to tell my mum, having to tell the boys, I mean, you know, two brilliant boys.”

Lewis then fought tears as he reflected on the heartbreaking moment, adding: “That was pretty heartbreaking wasn’t it? We sat on the couch in tears, Ethan and Dylan, both wrapped up in each other. Then the dog then jumped over and started licking the tears off our faces, which was rather sweet.

    Lewis Moody

Lewis Moody appeared in a pre-recorded interview (Image: BBC)

“It was without a shadow of a doubt the most horrible, hardest thing I’ve ever had to do but I’m really grateful we did it.”

Lewis then bravely added: “I feel at ease with it all now, maybe that’s shock, maybe that’s I don’t know, but…” to which his wife, Annie, commented: “It’s so typical of you, that’s just so Lewis. I’m in awe of you, honestly.”

The sporting star then added: “We know the reality, I want to stay positive.”

After the video, BBC Breakfast host Sally revealed that she sat down with Lewis and Annie for a full interview. In an article posted on BBC, Sally also shared her thoughts on the chat.

The presenter said: “It was a telephone call that I dreaded getting again. A voice at the other end of the line saying there’s somebody else in sport, Lewis Moody, who has been diagnosed with motor neurone disease. Your heart sinks. You go cold. It’s still really jarring and shocking.”

    Lewis Moody

Sally added: “The diagnosis is very recent. It’s very new news. It’s very fresh in the minds of his wife Annie and their children. And it’s also been incredibly quick. At times people with motor neurone disease can wait months for a diagnosis.

“He is really well. He feels well. He doesn’t feel ill and he’s still this super strong rugby union player. He’s the Lewis Moody you think of from England’s famous World Cup-winning team of 2003.”

Sally added that Lewis is “very mentally strong” and “incredibly positive”, adding: “He is going to do all the things he can do to stay as well for as long as he can.”

BBC Breakfast continues every day at 6am on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.

We revealed the 44-year-old former world champion boxer was preparing to put pen to paper last month.

Having been hit with a huge £600k bill from the taxman, the throuple-loving sports star will no doubt be welcome a big payday from the show and the potential doors its publicity will open.

A source said: “David was delighted to get the call from ITV. As viewers know, no chats are off-limits around the campfire, so they can expect to see David grilled over his quirky relationships.”

He came third during his previous stint in the jungle, behind Pussycat Dolls singer Ashley Roberts and EastEnders actress Charlie Brooks, who won.

Gemma’s first attempt at I’m A Celebrity was an unmitigated disaster lasting just three days.

But the Towie legend, 44, has done a lot of maturing in the 11 years since and isn’t the same diva she was back then.

Despite her ill-fated stint in Oz, bosses were desperate to woo her for another go, and Gemma has decided she has unfinished business.

A source said: “She hated it first time round but knows it would be TV gold for her fans if she gave it another go.”

    I’m A Celebrity’s all-star line-up in FULL for 2025
During her I’m A Celeb adventure, Gemma claimed to have malaria and had a panic attack before being taken to the camp in a helicopter.

A year after quitting, Gemma told The Sun she wanted another go.

She said: “Everything would be different a second time.

“I’d be like Lara Croft and Angelina Jolie rolled into one, and I’d do the tasks. I’m not scared of nothing.

“Hopefully one day the producers may give me another chance.”

    Seann Walsh

The comedian, 39, redeemed his image in the jungle two years after his Strictly Come Dancing kiss scandal with Katya Jones.

Seann went down a storm and finished in fifth place in 2022.

He has since gone on to become a dad of-two – his youngest child, Casper, arriving in March.

As a result, he won’t have taken the decision to spend time away from home lightly.

A TV insider said: “When he went into the jungle in 2022 he very much did it in the hope of redeeming himself in the eyes of the viewing public.

“Which was no mean feat given he’d been branded an aggressive gaslighter as a result of his fling with Katya and his treatment of his girlfriend.

“Yet he managed to emerge as one of the more popular campmates and actually finished in a respectable fifth place in the contest.

“Part of the reason why he came across comparatively well was because he went into I’m A Celebrity with an even bigger love rat.

“His entry into the camp was alongside former Health Secretary Matt Hancock who was at the centre of an exclusive in The Sun revealing he had had an affair with a political adviser Gina Coladangelo in 2021.”

    Harry Redknapp

Football royalty Harry, 78, became King of the Jungle in 2018 and picked up a £500,000 cheque to take part.

He’ll start the series as one of the favourites to win, given his huge popularity as the nation’s grandad.

A source said: “It’s going to be a real coup.

“Harry is TV gold and was first on the list of wannabe celebrity contestants.”

Some of Harry’s best jungle bits saw him learn street slang from Fleur East and Malique Thompson-Dwyer, have his leg massaged by Noel Edmonds, and get toilet cleaning duty after revealing he had no sense of smell.

Former Queen of the Jungle Scarlett, 34, has nothing but love for the ITV reality show.

After we revealed she’d signed for the programme, Scarlett shared what she would do differently second time around.

She admitted: “I mean, it would be amazing to do [All Stars] because it’s iconic and I just love the show so much. I was on it a whole decade ago, so I would’ve been in my early 20s and I’m a different human now.

“So I would do the trials differently. But I’d just go in and be myself, and that’s the only thing you can do.”

She continued: “I’m not sure about smashing the trials, but I’d give them my best shot. But as I’ve gotten older my fear levels have gone up. I can’t even get on rollercoasters now.”

Since starring on the show, Scarlett has had a very successful TV career, as well as getting engaged to partner Scott Dobinson and welcoming son Jude.

This summer, a source told us: “She is so game for a laugh and knows what to expect in terms of the Bushtucker Trials so she’ll throw herself into every task.”

    Adam Thomas

The Emmerdale star, 37, finished behind Scarlett Moffatt and Joel Dommett first time around in 2016 and will be hoping to nab the crown this time.

The popular actor, whose infectious laugh never fails to make people chuckle, has been diagnosed with the debilitating health condition  rheumatoid arthritis since his first stint.

But we know Adam’s tough as they come and game for a challenge – evident from his nickname ‘Mr Bushtucker Trial’, which he received for taking on the most ever challenges – 12 – a record he holds to this day.

A source said: “This will be a glorious return for Adam as he established himself as a true fan favourite through his series in camp and then on the spin-off show.

“He’s stayed in the limelight, too, with Waterloo Road and then on ITV alongside brother Ryan with challenge show 99 To Beat.

“It’s the perfect time for him to head back into the jungle and affirm his position as Mr Bushtucker Trial.”

Olympic legend Sir Mo took part on the show when it relocated to Gwrych Castle, Wales, during the coronavirus pandemic.

The Team GB hero, 42, came fifth behind winner Giovanna Fletcher, runner-up Jordan North and third placed Vernon Kay in 2020.

The long-distance runner recently hinted he had chosen to join the All Stars over this year’s Strictly Come Dancing.

A source said: “Mo is very competitive so is definitely out to win this time round.

“He’s excited to experience a different side of I’m A Celeb as obviously the castle series were dramatically different to Oz.

“The sunny camps bring with them new problems, but he’s feeling excited for the challenge.”

The Pussycat Doll is the perfect combination of beauty, brains and humour and bosses are delighted to have her in camp.

Heart radio star Ashley, 44, was a runner-up 13 years ago and is no stranger to reality TV having tackled Strictly and The Jump, too.

A show source told The Sun: “She’s warm, hilarious and of course, drop dead gorgeous.

“Just like Myleene Klass, who won the first All Stars series back in 2023, Ashley had some iconic moments soaping up in the outback waterfall.

“Stripping back down to her swimwear on TV again netted Myleene some very lucrative deals after the show, and it’s sure to do the same for Ashley.”

Pop star Sinitta’s scaredy cat behaviour endeared her to the public when she first flew to Oz.

Bosses are now keen to see if she’s got any braver over the years.

An insider said that regardless of the answer, she’ll be good value.

They said: “She is always hugely entertaining to watch, so viewers are in for a treat.”

As ever with Sinitta, 61, there are also like to be some golden anecdotes about her bff Simon Cowell around the campfire as she shares some good old fashioned celeb gossip.

Coronation Street favourite and Radio 2 DJ Craig Charles’ time in the jungle came to a devastating end in 2014.

The actor, 61, had to leave early after his brother, Dean, had a fatal heart attack.

The new series will likely stir up some difficult memories for Craig, but if anyone deserves another shot on the show it’s him.

A TV insider said: “So many viewers were willing for Craig to win when he appeared on the show the first time and he stood a good chance of being crowned King of the Jungle.

“But he was robbed of the experience by the family tragedy, although his campmates and the production team all understood why he wanted to leave and head home to be with his loved ones.

“So ITV has given him another go, and it’s a move which has never been done on the show before — bringing someone back who had to leave due to such circumstances.”

Cheeky-chappy Jimmy was at one stage a red hot favourite to win the jungle crown.

But the 46-year-old’s banter with pal Jake Quickenden went too far for some viewers and he was called a bully, quickly ending his jungle experience.

Despite this, his broadcasting career has really taken off since and he had a long run as Soccer AM host.

A source said: “Jimmy had a brilliant time in the original series he took part in and it really opened the door to his broadcasting career.

“He was voted off first last time and he felt he had a lot more to give.

“Now he’s got the chance to get stuck in again, although he’s a bit older so he is worried he might find it harder to rough it.

“His banter is still on form though. Producers are hopeful he’ll have a bromance with Harry Redknapp.”

The legendary Coronation Street actress, 68, hasn’t called time on her I’m A Celeb story just yet.

Bev, who played Rovers Return landlady Liz McDonald over a 30 year period, wanted another shot after a wet couple of weeks in Wales first time around.

A source said: “Beverley’s first taste of I’m A Celebrity was in a cold, wet castle in Wales and it was a tough experience – although she loved making so many new friends.

“When the chance came up to fly to South Africa and have a second spin of the wheel she jumped at the chance.

“She is out there now filming and will be trying her best to make it through to the final.”

Coronation Street spoilers have confirmed trouble for Betsy Swain next week on the ITV cobbles as she faces a shock ar.rest. On Monday, Carla tells her girlfriend Lisa that she’s finally managed to sell the Rovers to a man named Ben. But she’s soon worried about taking a trip to Ireland and leaving Lisa alone with her ex Becky – leading DS Swain to question Carla’s trust in her.

Lisa is forced to promise Carla that she loves her and has no interest in Becky. But is she telling the truth? Later that week, Betsy manages to persuade her mum Becky to model some designs for her college project, and Lisa is left grinning as she watches her strut around the lounge.

Lisa decides to join in with the impromptu catwalk and Betsy records the whole thing, deciding to upload it to her socials. A panicked Becky is left thrown, worrying she’ll be recognised as she fumes at her daughter.

Things come to a head on Friday as Kit rushes to tell Lisa that Betsy has been ar.rested.

While Betsy is sitting alone in a police cell, Lisa loses it with Becky and fumes that her daughter has been struggling ever since her mum came back on the scene. Becky’s stung by the words.

Meanwhile, the cops interview Betsy with allegations that according to DI Costello, she damaged a police car and resisted ar.rest before proceeding to attack the officer. Betsy refuses to comment.

Costello later meets with Becky and insists she needs to make herself scarce or things will only get worse for Betsy. But what will Carla make of things when she returns from her trip?

Elsewhere next week, things grow tense between Bethany Platt and Hope Stape, who are both working at the salon. Hope’s out on work experience when she’s drawn in by a client offering miracle pills that promise strong hair and weight loss.

Bethany accuses Hope of stealing the pills when they go missing, but Hope refuses to empty her purse. While Bethany grapples for it, she’s left traumatised as her stoma splits.

BBC Strictly Backstage Explodes: Katya Jones Blasts Strictly Judges in Fiery Rant Over ‘Grudge’ Claims Leaving Fans Stunned

Katya Jones hits out at BBC Strictly judges following 'grudge' accusations as dancer argues 'It’s week two!'

    None |

The professional has starred in the popular competition series since 2016

Katya Jones and her Strictly Come Dancing partner, actor Lewis Cope, have received high praise for their two performances as viewers remain impressed with their start to the series. However, the judges, particularly Shirly Ballas, have been accused of being overly critical of the pair.

Last week, BBC viewers blasted Ms Ballas, claiming she has “a grudge” against Ms Jones, a view which has become a running accusation of the last few series. Following more criticism in the latest episode, Ms Jones issued a candid response on spin-off show, It Takes Two.

On Saturday, the couple received a respectable score of 27 for their Jive, but Ms Ballas’ feedback was full of complaints.

Following on from other judges’ remarks about the couple’s powerful talent together, Ms Ballas stated: “I get your power, I love everything about your power, I think you’re destined for greatness in this competition but for me, I don’t see the crash, bang, wallop that everybody else sees.”

The 65-year-old also noted the “melody” of the dance was “refined and soft,” before labelling the overall routine as “aggressive.”

She also directed a lot of critique as Ms Jones herself rather than celebrity Mr Cope, stating: “I’m not saying it has to be perfect when you create a line, you can have the most ugly line and it can still look beautiful.

“So for you [Katya] when he [Anton Du Beke] talks about refinement, that’s what he means.”

During an appearance on It Takes Two on Monday, Ms Jones and Mr Cope were asked by host Janette Manrara about their thoughts on the judges’ comments.

“I’ve been thinking about this a lot. There are two sides to it,” Ms Jones replied.

“On one side, as a pro, I’d would really have loved for the judges to vocalise their appreciation for what you [Lewis] did do, for all the steps you spent hours and hours learning.

“They were there, every single Viennese Waltz step, including the freckle that he did on his own, all the pivots, all of it.”

She continued: “On the other side, dancing is an art form, it’s an expression. We put on this number together the way we felt was right for us.

“In any art, there are opinions from people that don’t connect with it, that like it or don’t like it.

“We are here to create what feels right and share it. We let the judges have their say, we are still learning.”

The choreographer went on to add pointedly: “It’s week two.”

Responding to accusations that the dance was too “jam-packed,” Ms Jones went on: “We never compromised on dancing, and I feel that’s really important.”

Elsewhere on the Strictly chat show, week one eliminations Thomas Skinner and Amy Dowden also joined Ms Manrara to discuss their exit.

“An absolute beginner, you know, in terms of the entertainment world – he’s not an actor or a performer.

“So you know, the performances you pulled out both Saturdays, I was so proud.”

Continuing, Ms Dowden beamed: “I also saw the development from day one learning it to getting it on the dancefloor, but you know what? Also, we had so much fun.

  • Heartbreaking Concerns for Aljaž Škorjanec as Strictly Star Seems to Be Struggling on Live Show

Heartbreaking Concerns for Aljaž Škorjanec as Strictly Star Seems to Be Struggling on Live Show

He’s ‘unable to be the main comic as he usually is with his dance partners’

Strictly Come Dancing pro Aljaž Škorjanec is said to be “struggling” with his partnership on the BBC One show, according to a body language expert.

The Slovenian dancer first joined the glitzy series back in 2013 and has been partnered with several famous faces like Abbey Clancy, Alison Hammond and Call the Midwife star Helen George. After quitting in 2021, Aljaž made a comeback in 2024.

For the 2025 series, Aljaž is dancing with the hilarious drag queen La Voix – but a body language expert has now hinted that there could be tension brewing behind-the-scenes…

Strictly pro Aljaž Škorjanec and La Voix chemistry questioned

On Saturday evening (October 4), Aljaž was back on the Strictly Come Dancing dance floor with La Voix. The pair performed a Jive to Objection (Tango) by Shakira.

The routine went down well with fans and the judges. And as she received their feedback, the hilarious La Voix dished out her usual tongue-in-cheek insults and digs.

She also brought up a few of the mistakes they made in the dance. After, Aljaž declared: “Why would you tell them?!”

But it seems La Voix’s extrovert personality could be causing some trouble behind the scenes, according to a body language expert.

    Aljaž ‘struggling’ with partner

Speaking on behalf on Paddy Power Games, body language expert Judi James pointed out that Aljaž seems to be “struggling”.

She said: “La Voix is relaxed and hilarious at the end of the routines. But Aljaz is clearly and rather oddly struggling panting, sweating, bending double to catch his breath and unable to be the main comic as he usually is with his dance partners.”

Hinting at potential “straight talking off camera”, Judi then noted: “His wary expression when La Voix admitted to mistakes suggested scope for some straight talking off camera.

“His eyes widened in shock as he looked away.”

The expert also pointed out how La Voix broke a rule which could “scupper the judges’ votes” and annoy the pro.

She explained: “The rule in Strictly is to wait for the judges to notice any mistakes, not volunteer the information. A good gag is a good gag but maybe not when it threatens to scupper the judges’ votes.”
