Carol Vorderman dropped Baroness Michelle Mone over “how much she lied”. The pair were once extremely close and enjoyed a string of luxury nights out, but their bond came crashing down after a string of scandals linked to the businesswoman.

The former Countdown star, 64, and Baroness Mone, 53, began to drift apart after Michelle’s involvement in the awarding of government PPE contracts. Carol previously appeared on Good Morning Britain and revealed that she dropped Michelle after she “realised just how much she lied,” before Mone entered the political arena.

At the time, Vorderman added: “We all know what happened there,” while anchor Adil Ray intervened to say that Mone had “denied any allegations of corruption.” It emerged on Wednesday that a firm linked to Mone must repay the Government almost £122 million after breaching a contract to supply 25 million surgical gowns during the coronavirus pandemic.

Speaking on Good Morning Britain, Carol spoke about the breakdown of their friendship and branded Michelle a “liar.” She said: “I knew her many years ago for about 18 months and dropped her as a friend because I realised just how much she lied.

“This was way before she went into the political arena, and we all know what happened there.” Host Adil added at the time that Mone had denied allegations of corruption. Carol went on to add: “Yes, of corruption, but she’s admitted, obviously, that her husband ran the PPE Medpro. That’s really where it started.”

“Useless PPE”

In 2023, Carol had also called Michelle out during an appearance on ITV’s This Morning. It was during this broadcast that Carol also demanded that Michelle “sue” her. She said: “I cannot talk about useless PPE without also talking about Michelle Mone who was brought into the House of Lords, as a baroness, by David Cameron. We know she has taken leave of absence without losing the Tory whip to start with because she was actively involved, as it goes, with a company called PPE Medpro.”

She furiously added: “Now Michelle Mone, I knew, many years ago and then dropped her like a stone as soon as I realised what kind of person she was,” before looking at the camera and commenting: “Sue me, Michelle.” Host Alison Hammond was quick to attempt to shut Carol down, explaining that Michelle wasn’t able to defend herself against the comments.

However, a source close to Baroness Mone later hit out, branding Vorderman “publicity-hungry”. A source told us: “Baroness Mone will not be commenting on this publicity-hungry person.” They also slapped down Vorderman’s claim the peer and her husband Doug Barrowman paid for a super yacht and a private jet with money from the PPE contracts.

“VIP-lane contracts”

Carol’s blood had been boiling over the PPE VIP-lane scandal – contracts for billions of pounds of personal protective equipment awarded to Tory associates. She told the Mirror: “I was getting more and more angry about the VIP-lane contracts.

“I’m fascinated by numbers, and I kept looking at them, trying to piece together the jigsaw. It was just so obviously wrong. It was bad enough about the partying, but this was even worse.

“I’d covered stories on Welsh telly during the first lockdown, talking to all these incredible people helping people – amazing dinner ladies, kids with 3D printers printing PPE for doctors to wear.

“We’d made my online maths platform free to half a million homeschooling children. It felt like everyone was doing their bit. So, to learn that the same time these people were profiteering? Well, what is the definition of corruption if it isn’t that?”

“Slam them in jail”

Livid after discovering Mone’s involvement, Carol took to X, then known as Twitter, and demanded that Mone and her husband be locked up. She said: “‘Lady’ Mone broke Lords’ code & was seemingly involved in fraud while nurses & doctors slaved all hours to save people in the 1st lockdown. She denied any involvement, but her husband got £65m profit & she £29m. If so, slam them in jail where they belong.”

Brutal three-word comment

After the High Court ruled that a company linked to Mone had breached the government contract, the huge sum of money must be repaid by PPE Medpro. The Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC) brought the case, saying it provided 25 million “faulty”, non-sterile gowns during the 2020 pandemic.

The High Court ruled the gowns did not comply with the requirement of having a validated process to demonstrate sterility, and it was not possible for the DHSC to have sold them and recoup the loss.

After hearing the news, Carol took to her Instagram page to share a three-word response as she shared a news story headline. Alongside it, the TV star wrote: “Yes, at last.”

Lord Jeffrey Archer has landed himself in hot water with a number of Good Morning Britain viewers following his appearance opposite Kate Garraway and Richard Madeley on Thursday.

The former MP, who was given a peerage in 1992 but faced calls for it to be stripped after being sentenced to four years in prison for perjury in 2001, pulled no punches with his opinions on Reform UK leader Nigel Farage.

 

With Mr Farage and his cohorts shooting up the polls ahead of Keir Starmer’s Labour and Kemi Badenoch’s Conservatives, Ms Garraway and Mr Madeley were keen to hear from Lord Archer, who had pre-empted the Reform UK leader’s political success.

“In 2014, you called that Nigel Farage was going to be underestimated, and who then would’ve thought that he and his party would be beating all others in the polls,” Ms Garraway said during the interview.

Lord Archer leant back as he replied: “Well, I saw the Prime Minister and said, ‘You’ve got to put him in the House of Lords, he’s trouble’. He’s the best mob orator!”

His warning to the Prime Minister at the time, David Cameron, fell on deaf ears. Lord Archer continued: “(If you) put him in the House of Lords, you’ve killed him. He can’t do anything. Don’t let him out.

“He was on nought per cent, to be fair to the Prime Minister, on nought per cent! But what I saw in him was a rabble rouser.

“What I saw in him was the best mob orator since Michael Foot, so I said, ‘The way to get rid of him is to put him in the Lords!’”

Mr Madeley then chipped in to ask: “So in your view then, if you can distill it, what makes a good mob orator?”

Continuing his damning assessment of Mr Farage, Lord Archer took a dig at Mr Starmer too, as he replied: “Which the Prime Minister is not.

“You need to be able to stand up and say something as outrageous as immigrants are eating swans, and then think you can get away with it.

“He’s going the Trumpian route. To keep himself in the headlines the whole time, he will say more and more outrageous things that stop Kemi Badenoch from being in the headlines, stop Keir Starmer from being in the headlines, he’ll be in the headlines.

“Watch him carefully. It’s going to go on and on. He’s very good at what he does.”

Ms Garraway then asked: “And you said you’d been surprised by how many people have told you I’m gonna vote Reform next time.”

Explaining why, Lord Archer said: “Yes. Judged by what people tell me in the street. And a member of parliament said to me the other day – and I can repeat it because he said it on television the day after – that the Conservative Party will be down to 25 seats at the next election.

“So, unless Farage wins the whole thing, even a coalition between him and the Conservatives won’t work. It will probably be a coalition between Labour and the Liberal (Democrats).

“Now, Farage won’t mind that, he’ll let that (happen) and then he will become Prime Minister.”

Lord Archer’s comments against Mr Farage, combined with the fact that neither he nor any Reform UK representative was in the vicinity to offer a counter-argument, sparked uproar among some ITV viewers.

“More biased propaganda from GMB, the CNN of the UK,” one X user said regarding Lord Archer’s interview.

A second echoed: “Attacks from all angles now on Farage and Reform from the out-of-touch elite. Shows they are petrified.”

“What a painful, shambolic interview,” a third raged before a fourth hit out: “Archer is part of the establishment, she has a vested interest in slagging off Nigel.”

And a fifth fumed: “This was a man who was put in prison for four years for perjury; he has no credibility.”

Even those who agreed with Lord Archer’s claims had a point to make: “You are so right, Archer, but it’s what we want and he will get a majority.”

Stefan is instantly recognisable for his role as ruthless businessman Paul Robinson.

The actor is currently the last remaining star of Neighbours who has been on the show since the very beginning in 1985.

However, despite his long career in the spotlight, he is still deeply affected by a family tragedy that happened in his childhood.

This is because when Dennis was a child, his older brother John was killed aged 12 by a drunk driver.

“The repercussions of someone getting behind the wheel on drugs or drink, it’s devastating to the people around them,” he recently told The Guardian.

“This happened decades and decades ago, and it still affects me today – I’m more affected today than I was back then.”

Opening up further, he told News Corp, “I just recently spoke to my mum about it [the d3ath of John].

“Now that I have my own children I have some concept of what she must have gone through.”

The soap star also admitted he sees his late sibling in his teenage son.

“Lately, I have been thinking about John a lot,” he added.

“The man who killed my brother was going just 30km/h. That’s all it took.”

NEIGHBOURS FAREWELL

Meanwhile, Stefan, who is paired with Dianne Buswell on this year’s Strictly Come Dancing, is getting ready to say goodbye to Ramsay Street AGAIN in December.

Neighbours has been axed for the second time in three years, this time by Amazon.

The Aussie soap first came to an end in 2022 when Channel 5 pulled funding for the soap.

Prime video stepped in to save the soap, but have now decided to ditch it as well.

The last ever episode of Neighbours will air on December 11.

Stefan recently revealed a major spoiler about the final episode on Loose Women.

Speaking to the panel he told them: “I’m going to give it away, I say the very last line in the show which was actually.

“It was a nice tribute that Jason our executive producer gave to me because he said, ‘You were in the first episode.

“‘It’s just a no brainer that you have to say the last thing.’”

SECRETLY SACKED

Meanwhile, Stefan recently revealed how he was secretly sacked by Neighbours bosses in 2006.

Recalling the incident, he told Australia’s TV Tonight: “Unbeknownst to a lot of people, I was actually sacked in 2006 because producers didn’t know what to do with the character anymore, because they’d made him too big.

“I was actually sacked for about three days before they changed their minds and got me back.

“Then I was sacked again when the show finished (in 2022), and now being sacked again.

“It’s the only show in the world, as an ongoing serial, that’s been axed three times.”

NEW CHALLENGE

Now that Stefan has filmed the last episode of Neighbours, he is taking on his next challenge.

The actor is part of the Strictly Come Dancing 2025 line-up, and is currently training for the show.

After it was announced he would be on the show this year, Stefan said: “I’m very excited to be doing something completely out of my comfort zone.

“But because of that, quietly petrified.

“I’ve got left and right feet but when I look down they’re actually two left ones.”

Speaking on the latest episode of At Home With The Thomas Bro’s podcast, Scott said he was surprised when he was issued with a parking ticket while away in Ibiza, while his car was back in the UK.

This prompted him to point the finger at his brother Adam, who had borrowed his car while he was on holiday.

Scott told listeners: “I got a parking fine, the date was the 16/08/2025, I’m in Ibiza, therefore I wasn’t driving my car, someone else way,” to which Adam replied: “I know where this is going.”

The former Love Islander continued: “So Adam, rant of the week is you got a ticket in my car and you will be paying it.”

This lead Adam to speak about his own issues with the law.

He said: “Bailiffs turned up to our house not long ago and tried to tow my car away because I had 10 unpaid parking tickets.”

Adam quipped: “So I don’t think this is going to get paid to be honest with you, I can’t even pay my own parking tickets” as he chucked the letter behind him.

He continued: “Luckily they couldn’t get into my house because of the gates.”

Emmerdale and Waterloo Road favourite Adam – who rakes in around £200,000 a year from his telly work – set up the business with pal Scott Graham.

He later resigned as a director but his dealings still form part of the probe by the liquidators.

Adam said at the time the business failed: “Unfortunately we have decided to close The Spinn.

“We did what we had to do with The Spinn and we learnt so much building our first venture and more importantly we had an absolute blast.”

‘Tactical voting can’t stop Reform!’ Major poll highlights vulnerable Labour MPs as expert predicts turquoise tidal wave 

Reform UK has stormed to a 10-point lead over Labour as a staggering new poll shows Sir Keir Starmer’s Conference speech has massively backfired.

Sir Keir launched several attacks on Mr Farage, describing him as the “enemy” with “racist” policies and even describing the dinghies crossing the Channel full of illegal migrants as “Farage boats”.

 

But a new poll suggested that the Prime Minister’s scathing tactics appear to have blown up in his face.

The More in Common poll of more than 2,000 people found Reform’s lead over Labour has jumped from three points to 10 in just a week.

Mr Farage’s party leapt two points to 30 per cent, while Labour slumped five points to 20 per cent.

Sir Keir denied he was trying to incite violence against the Reform UK leader, but blamed him for the small boats crisis because of his successful Brexit campaign.

The Prime Minister told GB News: “I would gently point out to Nigel Farage and others that before we left the EU, we had a returns agreement with every country in the EU, and he told the country it would make no difference if we left.

“He was wrong about that. These are Farage boats, in many senses, that are coming across the Channel.”

The Reform UK leader said that “the Prime Minister is inverting the truth” and “is gaslighting the British public and attempting to blame everything on me”.

Mr Farage continued: “I am the devil. The Farage boats. I warned the entire British political establishment in 2020, Prime Minister, that we had a major problem coming down the track.

“I also asked the mainstream media why they’re not covering this. I predicted that it would lead to an invasion.

Experts have called the so-called Dublin Convention, which governed the returns to the EU, very limited.

Tony Smith, former head of UK Border Force, said “hardly any” migrants had been sent back to France while the UK was in the EU due to bureaucratic hurdles.

He said Sir Keir’s claims are “nonsense” and the Dublin agreement was “not that successful at all”.

Mr Smith said: “I don’t know who is advising the Prime Minister, but whoever it is, they have not done their homework.

“They are clearly putting out false messaging, trying to deflect from the problem they’ve got.”

Deputy Prime Minister David Lammy had to backtrack on his claim that Mr Farage “flirted” with the Hitler Youth, admitting he had no evidence for the claim.

Discussing Mr Lammy’s comments, Danny Kruger said: “The consequence of what this Prime Minister and David Lammy and others have done could well be to cause political trouble of this very serious nature, including physical violence.

“I think he is playing with fire by using this total slur. The worst thing you can say about someone these days is to call them racist or to call them a Nazi, and that is what the Labour Party has done to us this week.”

Paired with pro Nikita, the ex-islander was gearing up for the first live show of the 2025 series when she fractured her ankle.

Speaking on her podcast with dad Danny, she’s now detailed the days after the devastating blow, saying the ordeal was “so hard”.

“The doctor said to me, if I continue dancing on this foot, it’s not going to heal, it’s going to get worse and worse and worse,” she said on Live and Let Dyers.

“It’s so hard because I was just having the best time of my life. I was so happy, I was so excited. The photoshoots, they’re the fun part, but I got my partner, I got Nikita.”

Explaining the aftermath, Dani said they were “all just so devastated”.

“Everyone around me was pure devastation, and that’s why I couldn’t leave the house, because I knew if someone said to me ‘are you okay Dani’ I’d just cry.

“And everyone is so kind and lovely and I could probably stand in the street and cry. But for me mentally, it’s just been really testing my mental health.”

Dad Danny also weighed in on the situation, telling his daughter: “What you’ve got to do is, which you have, is pull up them big girl knickers, and we f***ing get on with it.

“Because up to this point it’s been an incredible year. You’ve done some amazing stuff.”

On next year’s Strictly, Dani added: “I would love to come back. I would absolutely love to come back. Listen it’s a year away, but my door is open.

“My door is open, if they want their door to be open, then I’ll walk through their door.”

Dani fell during a training session, with her foot swelling that weekend.

Hospital scans confirmed a fracture, leaving doctors with no choice but to bench her for the new series of Strictly.

It came just days before the first live show of the series.

Speaking after her incident, Dani told fans on Instagram: “It’s been a lazy, emotional week.

“I was so excited for this side of the year but it really hasn’t ended the way I wanted it too.. taking everyday as it comes whilst my annoying foot gets better.”

Dani had already filmed the pre-recorded launch show with her pro partner reveal. She was replaced by fellow Love Islander Amber Davies.

Katherine Ryan has admitted to having a “secret hot romance” with a famous celebrity in a candid confession. The comedian, 42, is currently expecting her fourth child with husband Bobby Kootstra but decided to lift the lid on her past love life.

She confessed that while she hasn’t dated anyone famous “traditionally”, she did have a short lived romance with a very well-known person. Katherine married her childhood sweetheart Bobby in 2019, and they share son Fred, four, and daughter Fenna, two.

They fell in love as teenagers but split and Katherine had daughter Violet, 16. Before reuniting 20 years after their separation, Katherine had a wild time in the dating pool.

She revealed: “I once had a secret hot romance, like famous famous hot guy.” However, Katherine said she had to be “discreet” about their fling as she added: “He wasn’t that famous yet but I knew he was hot but everyone else has been pretty ugly.”

Speaking of her love life to Jamie Laing on his Great Company podcast, she admitted: “The hotter I was, I was dating the uglier. Bobby just happens to be good looking but that’s not my type.

“Everyone was a psychotic narcissist and they probably say horrible things about me.” Katherine has been open about challenges in her marriage to Bobby after they rekindled in 2018 and wed a year later.

The TV star shared: “I remember everything in my life. Bobby, I remember any discretion. Sometimes in therapy they are like ‘let that go’ and I’m like I can’t. I love him but I don’t trust him. I remember what he did to me when we were 16.”

In 2018, Katherine appeared in an episode of the ancestry show Who Do You Think You Are? which saw her head back to her native Canada to explore her family’s history. While in a pub in Ontario, she ran into her old flame Bobby and sparks began flying all over again.

However, the couple have had to contend with scrutiny as some claimed Bobby had only returned to Katherine because of her success.

With her usual wit, Katherine addressed the criticism during an interview with Louis Theroux, explaining: “Like, if it’s fun for people to believe that Bobby’s only using me for money and I’ve had loads of plastic surgery and this and that, then that’s great that I know that and can use that because my job is to make them laugh.”

Katherine is currently expecting her third child with Bobby and is convinced she is having a boy. While filming her outfit in a mirror at her home, Katherine told the camera: “I could not have picked a better time to get a full length mirror in the corridor. Just got me feeling great…”

She referenced her bump as she added: “This has got to be a boy.” However, she continued: “We don’t know. We never know. A lot of people ask me and it’s like, come on.”
