Dani Dyer has opened up on how she feels watching fellow Love Island alumni Amber Davies join the cast of Strictly Come Dancing in her place following injury

Dani Dyer has admitted she found the first live Strictly Come Dancing show hard to watch at the weekend. The former Love Island star, 29, had been excited to be a part of the hit BBC contest, but injury forced her to quit in the week running up to the series starting.

Now, while chatting with her dad Danny Dyer on their Live and Let Dyers podcast, the reality TV star admitted she would love to go back next series. “My door is open,” she confessed. “If they want their door to be open then I’ll walk through their door.”

And talking about Amber Davies replacing her, she admitted she feels she will be amazing with Nikita Guzman. “Watching the launch show, they’re all so lovely,” she said before her dad asked how she felt.

“That was really hard,” she confessed. “Obviously seeing them, but obviously Amber’s come in and they’re going to be amazing together.

“I’m glad that Nikita’s actually got a partner because there was a chance he wouldn’t get a partner. It was just such a quick turnaround.”

She added: “Listen, I wish everyone the best, ” before confessing her love for Geordie Shore’s Vicky Pattison. “I’m so glad I met Vicky,” she gushed.

Dani also revealed during the chat that she felt she may have done something wrong in the world after injuring herself. It left her requiring the advice of her therapist for the first time since she met her husband Jarrod Bowen.

“He just put things into perspective for me,” she candidly revealed.

Speaking of how the injury occurred, dad Danny labelled it a “freak f***ing accident”. Dani then added: “Basically I fell and rolled my ankle and initially I heard a noise but I thought, ‘I think it’ll be fine’, but I came home on the weekend and iced it all, and they sent me for the MRI and it came back that there was a hairline fracture on my ankle, but it was my ligaments.”

“They said to me, the physio, if you have a grade one sprain, we can work with a grade one sprain, but one side of my ankle had a grade two sprain and the other side had a grade one.

“We went and got a second opinion, see the doctor, and I was like ‘What can we do? Physically do? Can you jab it, there’s got to be something’.”

But she admitted the Strictly bosses pulled the plug on her time, admitting they told her it wasn’t worth it. They explained she would be “in so much pain” if she was to continue.

Now, with Amber going in as one of the favourites, fans have been wondering if her call-up is fair due to her West End and dancing background.

She continued that whilst it prompted her to contemplate dating once more, she realised that she wasn’t prepared. “This has made me think about it and honestly, I don’t feel as if I can.

“It’s a weird one, because I wouldn’t like to think I’d spend the rest of my life without love, but also it feels preposterous at the moment to think of being with anyone else. What Derek and I loved was our home life and just pottering around, and we had 21 years of that, so mentally I am still in that zone.”

Kate went on to say that “when the time is right” she would be open to dating, but doesn’t quite know how to anymore. “I kind of wish I was in my 20s for lots of reasons, particularly when I see my bottom in the mirror!

“But it feels as though socialising was easier then. I can’t imagine ever going on a dating app. I’m so private.”

Gemma Atkinson has revealed that her six-year-old daughter, Mia, has been diagnosed with epilepsy after suffering from absence seizures. The TV presenter, who shares two children with Strictly Come Dancing pro Gorka Marquez, explained on her Just As Wll, The Women’s Health podcast, that their eldest was experiencing loss of awareness and zoning out. As a result, she is now receiving treatment for epilepsy.

Epilepsy is a condition where your brain is affected and causes seizures. It is incurable, but treatment is offered to patients to help manage the symptoms and condition. One type of seizure is an absence seizure, where you lose awareness of what’s going on around you.

She told listeners: “My daughter is under treatment for epilepsy. She has the absence seizures, she doesn’t fit or anything, it’s just a stare out and they’ve got so much better a year in.”

The doting mum admitted that she went down a research “rabbit hole” when her youngster received the diagnosis. She went on: “When I was told that I was like, ‘Right, I need to research, research, research,’ and I went down a rabbit hole.” A doctor recommended putting Mia on a keto diet to help improve her condition.

The former Hollyoaks star explained: “The keto diet was designed for patients with epilepsy because it re-wires their brain function. The doctor told me, ‘If you can get her on a keto diet, it could help with brain function’. The improvement that we’ve had, I mean, we’re constantly monitoring, but the last six months she’s had none, touch wood.”

Gemma also shared the history of the keto diet and how it first started being used as a treatment for epilepsy. She explained that it began back in the 1930s, but that the doctor who found it worked sadly lost all of his notes in a fire, setting the research back years.

She went on: “It was given to epilepsy patients back in the day, in the 1930s, it was discovered, and it really helped all of the symptoms, and everything went down. But then the doctor who discovered this, his hospital miraculously got burnt down, with all the research and everything.”

The TV star first met her fiancé, Gorka, when she competed on the BBC dance competition back in 2017. On the show, she was partnered with Aljaz Skorjanec, with the dancing duo successfully making it all the way to the final alongside Gorka and his celebrity partner, Alexandra Burke. Since then, Gemma has appeared on the Strictly Christmas Special to dance with her partner.

The happy couple got engaged in February 2021, but have revealed they want to wait until their son is older before officially tying the knot. They told us: “We’ve toyed about doing it in Spain, so his family can come, and we’ve even thought about doing it in a registry office or a hotel in Manchester, just the two of us, and then have a big party after.

“But I think now we want to wait until Thiago is a bit older, so maybe next year or the year after, as he’s only two. If he’s a bit older, he could be involved in it, which would be really nice.”

Strictly Come Dancing star  Thomas Skinner has shared a touching message to his professional partner Amy Dowden who has bravely shared her battle with breast cancer. Thomas posted a throwback picture of himself with pink nail polish from six years ago, explaining how it was part of a campaign to raise awareness for the deadly disease. He then linked the memory to his current pairing with Amy, who recently announced she is in remission, while issuing a warning of his own.

He told fans: “This picture just came up on my phone from 6 years ago when I painted my nails pink to help raise awareness for breast cancer. Now 6 years later I’m dancing on Strictly Come Dancing with my little Cancer warrior @amy_dowden who has battled breast cancer and helped raise awareness. She honestly is a living legend. The post came after a stormy weekend for Thomas, who faced a rough reception following his debut on the dancefloor.

The businessman, who performed a paso doble with Amy, scored just 12 points from the judges, including only two from head judge Craig Revel Horwood. Viewers piled in on social media, with some branding him “one of the worst dancers” they had seen.

In a lengthy statement, Thomas accused the media of deliberately targeting him. He said: “The hate frenzy they’ve created towards me is insane. There is hardly any truth in the majority of the articles.

“Now I understand why people in the public eye just say and do what they’re told… because they’ll get buried if they don’t, just like they’re trying to do to me. I will always stand up for what is right.”

The 33-year-old insisted that much of what had been written about him was “massively exaggerated” or presented in a way designed to “make me look bad.”

He added: “In fact, all I’ve ever done is put into the UK economy, employ people, support local businesses, spread positivity, work bloody hard and try to make others believe in themselves by spreading love and positivity online.”

Despite the backlash, Thomas vowed to continue giving the show everything he has: “I’m gonna keep on trying my best and I don’t care if people like it or not. I am proud of who I am and so grateful for all of you in my corner.”

But 15 years on, new information about one particular aspect of their day has come to light – shutting down a long- standing rumour about Kate. It has long been believed that prior to her big day, the princess took lessons in order to be able to do her own make-up on the morning of her wedding, using products from the beauty brand, Bobbi Brown.

But in a brand new interview, make-up mogul Bobbi Brown revealed that wasn’t quite the case. Speaking on the Breaking Beauty podcast to promote her new memoir, Still Bobbi, Brown revealed that her products were used, but clarified one misconception.

She revealed: “I didn’t do her [Kate’s] make-up. I wish I did. It was one of my artists, Hannah Martin, who’s become quite a sensation in the UK.”

Brown added: “Hannah did give me some information that I should set my alarm and watch. We were texting back and forth, and she’s like, ‘Oh my God, oh my God, oh my God.’

The interviewer asked if the Bobbi Brown brand was allowed to claim credit for the wedding day look, but the founder added: “We didn’t as a company use it — no one did that back then. It wasn’t the right thing to do.”

However, she did add that one of Kate’s staffers wrote a letter on behalf of the royal to Brown saying “how much she appreciated the make-up”, which now hangs in her office.

UK-based Hannah Martin, who did do Kate’s make-up, now has a huge online fan base, where she posts tutorials for her 376,000 Instagram followers.

She has other royal connections, as she has publicly posted about doing make-up in the past for big events for the likes of Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie on their wedding days. But she has never spoken publicly about Kate.

She previously spoke about working with the royals, saying she was stunned when she was first approached to work with the York sisters.

“With those [royal] relationships, there have been the odd occasions where there’s been the green light to share [pictures online], but I will never, ever assume that I can share behind-the-scenes photos of any of my clients. Every now and again, there’s a green light, but it’s always at their lead.”

ITV‘s Big Brother revival has seen its fair share of romance, with Jordan Sangha and Henry Southan, and Chris Hughes and JoJo Siwa among those to see sparks fly in the famous abode.

And it seems there could be another love story on the cards just three days into the new series, as Marcus and Elsa have already begun to grow close.

In scenes that aired on Wednesday, the pair showed their close bond as they got cosy under the covers, with Caroline admitting earlier in the show they appeared to be ‘falling in love.’

It was a development that quickly irked viewers, as they drew comparisons to ITV’s rival show Love Island.

Earlier in the episode, some of the Housemates were in the kitchen having breakfast when Elsa looked at Marcus and laughed.

Caroline noted: ‘I think she’s in love,’ before Marcus joked: ‘I know, I don’t blame her,’ before leaning in to give Elsa a hug.

Prior to Big Brother’s return, hosts AJ Odudu and Will Best hit back at comparisons between the show and rival Love Island, telling Daily Mail that the house is built for its inhabitants to find common ground, and in some cases, this can naturally lead to a closer connection than they expected.

ITV’s first series of Big Brother in 2023 saw winner Jordan Sangha go on to date housemate Henry Southan, while last year Nathan King and Rosie Williams enjoyed a whirlwind romance.

And earlier this year, in a twist no fan could have predicted, Love Island star Chris Hughes and Dance Moms’ JoJo Siwa fell in love on the celebrity version, and they’ve been documenting their relationship on social media ever since.

Asked why the BB house has become such an unlikely place to find love, Will insisted all of the relationships have been ‘unplanned,’ before he and AJ joked it’s the ‘trauma-bonding’ that brings housemates closer together.

Referencing Chris and JoJo’s romance, he said: ‘That is so unplanned, and because ITV have a very successful, very well-known show playing, around people in a house dating, and I don’t think they are in any, they’re not desperate to have a love story.

‘That’s not really it. Honestly, they’ve come out of nowhere. Some of them have really come of nowhere, and I even thought that they were gonna go nowhere, and it turns out they have gone somewhere.’

Noting how Chris and JoJo recently attended a pal’s wedding together, he added: ‘They’ll be going to their own flipping wedding in a minute, I wouldn’t be surprised.’

AJ added: ‘I don’t know what it is so far, I just think, I guess the world is in a place where a lot of people are focusing on everyone’s differences, and I think the Big Brother house is also a space for people to focus on their similarities and through seeing each other’s similarities, and what they’ve got in common, they’ve just gone ”do you know what? I actually love you!”

‘I think it’s always incredibly well cast, right? People are put together because they know that that combination of people is going to create something,’ Will said.

‘You don’t know what it is, but when you put people that have been carefully chosen into such an extreme environment, there’s going to be extreme reactions. And I guess it makes sense that every now and again, that reaction is romantic.’

Sadly not all Big Brother romances have lasted, with Jordan and Henry splitting in April after 16 months together, while in February, Nathan and Rosie parted ways after just three months of dating.

The Strictly Come Dancing star, 37, confessed that he had wracked up a huge hidden debt during a discussion with his brother Scott on their podcast At Home With the Thomas Bros.

Scott explained he had been holidaying in Ibiza when he was issued with a parking ticket – though his car was still at home in England. He immediately blamed Adam, who had borrowed the vehicle while he was away. He told listeners: “I got a parking fine, the date was the 16/08/2025, I’m in Ibiza, therefore I wasn’t driving my car, someone else was.”

But Emmerdale star Adam chimed in with a horror anecdote of his own, explaining: “Bailiffs turned up to our house not long ago and tried to tow my car away because I had 10 unpaid parking tickets.

“Luckily they couldn’t get into my house because of the gates.”

He told his brother: “So I don’t think this is going to get paid to be honest with you, I can’t even pay my own parking tickets.”

Their other brother, Coronation Street star Ryan Thomas, joked: “Imagine his car gets towed, it’s all your fault.”

 

It’s not the only financial trouble Adam has found himself in recently. In 2023, his restaurant The Spine – which he owned with his pal Scott Graham – was plunged into administration with reports the business had £293,996 debts, including £71,423 owed to the taxman.

He told the MEN in 2022: “We did what we had to do with The Spinn and we learnt so much building our first venture and more importantly we had an absolute blast.

“Thanks again to everyone who has supported us along the way and continues to support us and to all our staff who we will continue to take on this journey with us.”

Tom Parker Bowles has addressed speculation that he might be taking part in Strictly Come Dancing.

The 50-year-old food writer, who is the son of Queen Camilla, 78, and her former husband Andrew Parker Bowles, 85, was asked about the rumours during an appearance on Alan Titchmarsh’s programme Love Your Weekend.

 

The father-of-two dismissed the claims, saying: “My two children are embarrassed enough about my dad dancing at parties.

“The idea of me getting into sequins and sort of running like that… no! So it’s not true, and would never happen. Great show, obviously, but not for me.”

Mr Parker Bowles, who has two children — Lola, 17, and Freddy, 15 — with ex-wife Sara Buys, was a guest on the ITV show alongside model Twiggy Lawson.

His mother, Queen Camilla, is known to be an enthusiastic fan of Strictly, with head judge Shirley Ballas revealing that the monarch once sent her a handwritten note after receiving a copy of her book, Murder On The Dancefloor.

Camilla herself has previously described herself as “one of Strictly’s greatest fans”. In February 2024, she joined professional dancer Johannes Radebe as he taught moves to Royal Voluntary Service staff and volunteers during one of her engagements.

She also featured in the 2017 Strictly Christmas special, dancing with judge Craig Revel Horwood inside Buckingham Palace.

Speaking on BBC Breakfast last month, Mr Revel Horwood reflected on the experience: “I doubt that now. She was fantastic. We danced for the Royal Osteoporosis Society; she raised awareness and money for that charity, which was great.

“She loves dancing. She actually loves the show, and I would love to see her on there because she would nail it, darling. She’s got fantastic rhythm.”

Although no royal has ever signed up as a contestant, several have been spotted in the audience. In 2023, the Princess of Wales visited the studio with her three children, even taking a look around the costume department.

Back in 2018, the Duchess of Edinburgh attended a live recording with her daughter, Lady Louise Windsor, who had just turned 15.

Presenter Tess Daly later told Hello! that it was a birthday surprise: “It was lovely to have them there, we are very fortunate we have a few fans in the royal household… They did absolutely [get a backstage tour].

“Lady Louise was celebrating turning 15, and she said it was a treat to come and visit the show. She’s a big fan herself and her mother. They enjoyed all the action from the front row, and they had a great night. It was great to welcome them.”

The following year, Sophie joined in the fun herself, performing a waltz at the Blackpool Tower Ballroom during one of the show’s special episodes.
